Not sure if this was posted before, but Burnaby is taking a survey and feedback on how their new Metrotown plan.

https://www.burnaby.ca/City-Services/Pol...te/Your-Ideas-Survey.html?PageMode=Print

I also made my own fantasy zoning plan.

-Legend-
Brown - Historical
Dark Green - Park
Blue Lines - Skytrain
Yellow Dots - Stytrain stations
Blue - 3 to 7 storey
Green - 40 to 70 metre
Yellow - 70 to 120 metre
Orange - 120 to 160 metre
Red - 160 to 220 metre
Purple - 220 to 260 metre

Thanks for the link - I just filled out the survey. In part I said that it's currently a suburb with residential and a large mall, and if they want it to be a downtown it's needs a business and an entertainment district (and more cross streets).

Omigosh, a new proposed skytrain line down Willingdon and going south towards Central Park and hopefully towards East Fraser Lands? That would make sense as the line would link the 2 biggest urban centres in Burnaby. I did propose streetcar service between the two major nodes, but this fantasy proposal is even better.

A line down Willingdon would be great, the bus going to BCIT was terrible, it was always packed full when i went there.

no skytrain? Hastings definitely needs a line of some-sort though, maybe it could turn down Willingdon?

Well I made a realistic fantasy map here.

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1tLYpRrdY0g_f_9SdjWRMBmN6bV8&usp=sharing

The Cresent Line doesn't quite go down to the river district though. It would kinda be wasteful since it wouldn't serve people who live north.

Skytrain is still too slow, it takes almost an hour from Waterfront station to King George station. Can we bring Hyperloop?

Sweet map! Another fantasy would be a skytrain to Horseshoe Bay and up to Whistler. Expand those TOD's to the mountains! I'd also loop thee UBC line you have to go south from UBC and connect to your south Van line.

Why are they adding cul-de-sacs there?

I had actually posted about that project a little while back, but now there's a floor count. It seems like many companies send in an application with essentially no info except for "high-rise" and then send in another application a couple months later stating what they actually intend to build...

This is one of the small things that keeps Burnaby's town centres from shedding their suburban feel. This is meant to keep traffic moving faster/more freely on Willingdon, which is good for traffic flow, but certainly it makes for a more unpleasant pedestrian excperience.

The good news is that while cars will have to turn around, pedestrians will be able to walk through to Willingdon. ("12" on the map basically stands for park/public space.) What hampers walkability is that if you want to cross Willingdon, you have to walk up to Dawson to do so. But at least the way they're doing it you won't have to backtrack to Rosser first.

PS - Love the map you made at the top of the page!

By the way, does anyone know the name of the project across the lane (north) of the amacon tower just posted? I'm pretty sure it's 6 floors, and under construction...

The development is called The Dawson. It will have 62 units and a restaurant/retail at grade. Here is the website:

^Awesome! Thanks for the info.

Townline's upcoming Metrotown project is now called Sussex. Has this render been posted?

Townline's website has a massive version of the render if you save it to your computer... http://www.townline.ca/en/homes/new-homes/sussex

Amacon's upcoming Metrotown tower on Imperial Street is now called Imperial.

Quote:
Introducing Imperial by Amacon, a 26-storey high rise in the sought after Metrotown neighbourhood. Imperial is a collection of 169 air-conditioned, concrete homes and a limited collection of live/work townhomes and city homes. Amacon’s Live Well design will been woven into every detail.

The development in that area of Metrotown is fast and furious. I think that most of the low-income units will be gone in 10 to 15 years. That area is primed for major gentrification.

Wow the creative naming is just blowing my mind. Sussex is on Sussex Ave and Imperial is on Imperial St.
