What happened to them? Was there a fire or something?

I walked past these last fall, never really paid them any mind when driving but I recall wondering why they were boarded up with no sign of activity. Judging by the street view it's been that way for far more than a decade!

Aug 2011: https://goo.gl/maps/8yyAj46mtuYF9dtx7 (abandoned?)
Jun 2009: https://goo.gl/maps/j8PfbRdNdyPe3xDM6 (semi-occupied? noting broken windows)
Sep 2007: https://goo.gl/maps/fDTt1mMJ2zfXvvw26 (occupied?)

The farthest left building might have been occupied off and on at some point between 2007 and now but I'm sure the other two haven't been since the late 90s or very early 2000's. No idea why they're abandoned.

Apparently Lo PResti's at Maxwell's is closing at 165 Jackson St. E to make room for a development. Do we have any details on this?

I thought I had noted somewhere here that I had heard this last fall; maybe I didn't. We were there for dinner and our waiter mentioned it.

Interesting. Wonder who the buyer is, and if they also own the parking lot to the east. It would be nice to see another parking lot bite the dust.

Will also be nice to hide that hideous parking garage wall to the west.

There was a story about this in the Spec this morning.

This is really the only document I can find online about this development, a sales brochure from Cushman & Wakefield.

From CoreUrban's Instagram account:

"More exciting developments (and news!) Coming to James and Augusta and we can't wait to share it with you as it unfolds."

Both properties have been announced and the fact that they are rental is know. Rooftop patio is known, so what else could there be? Another proposal?!

Very interesting! I wonder if they've bought the parking lot to the south at Hughson and Young.

I was told by a person with ties to McMaster that the lot behind the George Hamilton has been bought by the university for another tower. She couldn't provide much more detail. Also the student housing project on Main west beside the University should being in the fall.

Really big if true.

I was at one of our fine local breweries and over herd her talking with kne of the owners about that property and my inner development nerd could hold it in any longer so I went over a talked with them. At first I thought she was in real estate but she told that she works for the long term planning development and finance for the university. Sounds legit. Sounds like probably a third phase once the two towers across the street get completed.

Is this the massive parking lot at Market and Bay St or the one literally behind the George with an attendant still.

I think it's the Bay & Market lot, it's seperated from the George by an alleyway.

You must be correct. A while back, not sure how long in the downtown thread, I posted a picture of a giant for sale sign for Remax right before the A&W. Anyhow, that has since been taken down as much as a month gone on now since. This and your info, as far as I can tell only have that conclusion.

FC application for Ikea's land which they purchased in the Red Hill business park. This would make the Ikea Warehouse roughly the same size as the new Amazon building.

To construct an 83,527 m2 warehouse and distribution centre in 2 phases.
