The transition part is turning out quite nice.

Oooof, I just realized the balconies were value engineered down to prison bars. I guess it's not bad since they're not noticeable from afar, but still.

Very good point!! It's the small things in life.

I wonder if they're doing lighting for this...

It's the residential levels I'm referencing. Is that what you mean?

The staggered view of One American -> Indeed -> 6XG is one of my favorites in Austin. It works so well with the stepbacks and angles going in opposite directions.

Agreed. It’s stunning.

OTOH:

We need two more towers to complete the view:

One with a broad flat roof in front and another that is a super skinny supertall behind.

I really wish we had a tower somewhere in the 750' range. There's such a plateau effect going on with a lot of the towers downtown.

I think 325 ATX, Independent, Austonian, 415 Colorado, The Republic, and Modern Austin are all within 50' to 60' in height of each other. I think Waterline should help at least so 6G isn't the only one sticking way out above the rest.

Ha. A lot of us on here can remember when there was a lot of discussion about our then 400' plateau. A 600-700' plateau is a significant improvement.

Our skyline now is finally starting to be impressive. One thing I'm noticing is the shafts. In other words, the middle sections of the very tallest towers being what is most noticeable from a distance, versus the top of some of our towers on the horizon around from a few years back. I went for a drive the other night, making a loop from south Austin, up 360, down 183 to I35 and then through downtown, and down Congress. The skyline is starting to not mess around.

Ah, the good ol' days with the 400' plateau... If I recall, we were debating that around the time I joined on here, or shortly after. I still lived in Asia back then - had a metro stop by my building two stops from HSR. Kinda miss that, but it's good to be here.

Re: Safety Rails - I have a hard time believing those are permanent. Those seem like a temporary solution until they get glass in or something.

The balcony railings look permanent to me. You can see what temporary safety railings look like on the amenity level below the residential - 2x4's nailed together without regard for straightness or aesthetics.

^ The more I look at them, you may be right. I don't like it though.
