I went for a walk on Saturday morning around Crescent street in downtown Montreal. It really isn't the city's finest looking street or area, now that I think of it....

Cypress and Peel streets

I think this store is the only address on Cypress street, which must be the city's least well known street.

Now that I’m out in the suburbs, a quick (by necessity) tour of the downtown core of Newfoundland’s third city, Mount Pearl.

You can see it past the stone remnants of children in the valley below…

Looking back from the same direction (the Coleman’s Grocery parking lot):

And that’s it.

Kidding. But barely lol

Anyhow, best appreciated with folk music lol

Video Link

They have some of the same chains as St. John’s, but more fake windows.

And WiFi hotspots.

And even public art.

And if you’re a working professional, you have somewhere to set up shop.

Hurt your back? Mount Pearl has got you covered.

You’ll never have to search for parking. Basically every outdoor public space is devoted to providing ever more of it. You can live like a local and drive for everything, even the gym!

The City Hall isn’t as hideous as the one in St. John’s (where is?).

And it’s practically connected to a laundry, auto repair shop, and Mary Brown’s drive-through.

And then you’re out in the endless maze of suburban streets that stretch off somewhere this side of Clarenville.

Great Quebec city set FrAnKs… I really like these old working class neighborhoods, they are very unique.

Same! I really like the street ambiance that they create aswell as the numerous mature trees! I don't know you, but even if you'll find something similar in certain parts of Montréal, I've always found that those neighborhoods of Québec city have a little "je ne sais quoi". I'll say it as I think : I believe there's a mix of Old maritime cities architecture (example : Halifax) mixed with Montréal (and/or northeast cities in general). Am I wrong?

No, you’re right… some parts obviously remind me of Pointe-Saint-Charles, of the Sud-Est or le Plateau, but the topography of QC makes it distinctive… in Montreal the numerous hills are reserved to posh neighborhoods, it’s a very different vibe.

I have always love St-Jean street more in Moncalm than within the walls (even though I do love that part - I think I’m just a very unconditionnal fan of QC).

A couple of photos I've taken of Victoria lately.

This is a view looking over Greater Victoria from the top of Mt. Tolmie.

I took this photo tonight when driving downtown and saw a rainbow over the city. It really was such a blessing to see. I love rainbows.

Those are really gorgeous, especially the lush alley and the walkup houses with the little fences protecting the garden spaces. That's exactly how urban life should look.
