Wonder if WeWork will let its lease go there. Glad to hear Open-door took space there. Interestingly enough - Zillow is down the street at Priest/Rio Salado...

In other news - I've heard that Carvana is moving its HQ to Marina Heights building 1 next year.

Interesting - I thought State Farm had occupied all of Marina Heights...

Interesting that they’re opening another Nekter juice bar within Whole Foods considering the standalone location at the union is a 3 minute walk down the road and then the other in Tempe Marketplace.

Also I’ve been seeing all sorts of positions opening up on indeed for this new location. The article says the baseline store will close, with all the openings they seem to have, would it be assumed those workers are not transferring? Or is this whole foods bigger?

The Baseline store has always struck me as small for a Whole Foods. Even as far back as 2007 when the new Whole Foods in downtown Tempe was first being touted, there was talk that it would be much bigger:

That is strange. Especially since State farm announced they were hiring what was it 1000 more employees this fall there? I thought they already occupied it all.

I heard they were able to sort of streamline their layout such that they didn't need to operate in Building 1. Which is surprising though because you'd think with a billion dollar development they would have fine-tuned their space...

After a couple years in the space I'm sure they found some inefficiencies, but you're right, you'd think space planning would be dialed in. However, in a city like tempe you gotta be innovative, right?!

Marina Heights have had advertising boards around the site advertising Class A office for a while now.

Whole Foods is on the move, and Tempe residents, ASU students, and people coming out of Tops Liquors have no doubt noticed the under-construction Whole Foods Market on University Drive between Farmer and Ash avenues. Well, the new 40,000-square-foot Tempe store at 750 South Ash Avenue has announced its official opening — 9 a.m. on Wednesday, November 6.

Opening day events include complimentary refreshments and food. The first 300 customers will receive a Tempe-specific Whole Foods reusable shopping bag and a savings card with, “a mystery value ranging between $5 and $100.” Following the grand opening, the store will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Features of the new store include an expansive produce section, bakery, full-service butcher, ready-made hot and cold food, the Nékter Juice Bar, and On Ash — a on-site bar and restaurant with a pub-style menu and local beer and wine.

“We can’t wait to bring Whole Foods Market to downtown Tempe,” store team leader Stephen Rice says in a press release. “We look forward to providing our customers with a greater selection of accessible, fresh, and innovative products and grab-and-go options, including a large selection from local businesses, as well as a destination to gather with friends and enjoy a meal or a drink at On Ash, our in-store bar and restaurant.”


The 10th Whole Foods in Arizona is actually a relocation of the existing Tempe at 5120 South Rural Road — over there by Sushi Time and Flo’s. What's more, the new site is looking to hire about 125 full and part time team members

Not sure about WeWork. But Opendoor will be moving it's 250 employees from Scottsdale to Watermark with plans to expand to nearly 1,000.

"What's more, the company also is in the preliminary stages of development on another site it owns near Tempe City Hall on Sixth Street west of Forest Avenue. That project likely will be a mixed-use building that is primarily residential with a significant amount of ground-floor retail."

This article mentions that Wexford is planning a new residential project at this location.. The only buildings on this street are a church and mosque. New high rise?

I believe they bought the church. So the church and parking lot is to become a residential highrise at some point.

Kind of funny that The downtown Frys is going to end up opening sooner than this Whole Foods when this complex was done like 6 months ago.
