AND THE BUILDING BOOM BEGINSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!STARTING WITH
1138 PEACHTREE ST
50 ALLEN PLAZA
777 SPRING STREET
NOW
THAT. WE FINALLY GOT WHAT we've been WAITING FOR !!!!!ALL WE JUST HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT FILLING UP THE OTHERSIDE OF THE SKYLINE ( that crosses the interstate)AND IT WOULD BE COOL If WE WOULD HAVE A LARGE WATER FEATURE OR A LAND FEATURE TO REALLY ADD A POP TO THE SKYLINE!!!To add on to that. i heard about 4 other rendering about 4 other skyscrapers maybe commit to Atlanta and i think its a go!!!!Our skyline would b full no time soon. hopeful they will fill up these parking lots before they fill up everything

Philips Arena with its ATLANTA facade is one of Arquitectonica's smaller, restrained designs. Let'm loose and to me, their world-class multi-towers wiggle, wave, undulate, flair, flip and turn international architecture on its head. Can't wait to see what's in store for us.

An Atlanta expample of their not so restrained designs was the (never should have been torn down) Rio Mall on North Avenue.

from flickeriver.com

To me, Arquitectonica's involvement is the most exciting part of the 14th Street project.

Rio was so far ahead of its time and it is shame it was razed. I wish I had appreciated it more back then.

Wow! What a way to close out the week.

Curious to know if the tallest building with hotel/residential will be the new Intercontinental flagship that was proposed for around 17th pre-recession...

And I totally agree re: Rio. Loved that place, and used to frequent the Crab House regularly.

A very positive week.

One question however - in a not so positive vein. The National Health Museum was supposed to open in Atlanta in 2013 - not much time left. Has this gone the way of the dodo? Does anyone know?

This article says they've "already secured $12 million to operate educational programs, build a cyber-museum and build the actual facility."

This was 2008, what's going on!?

There are three cranes between North / Ponce and Peachtree / Piedmont, one just came down at Skyhouse South and one will be up soon at the student housing on Spring.

I thought that the Georgia Tech tower on Spring was more than just a proposal...anyway, why you gotta try and ruin the party? Someone always has to come in with the negativity I guess...

You know what im really worrying about???Im worrying about the surroundings of the bank of America building because that a major skyuscraper in our city even though we have more taller ones commig soon, you can see this skyscraper from cobb even campbelton rd area. But as i was saying we need to connect downtown and midtown together because our skyline really need to be connected and it really does and then fill up the other side of 75 make it full on both side then fill it all the way to buckhead then widen the skyline and we will be good in no time. But i see potential in Atlanta i can picture atlanta 20 years from now and it could look better if we have towers over 50+ stories in the next 10 years atleast 15 of them..

But the sympothy center site im loving it i read the article 56 stories (WOW!!!) AND IMPRESSIVE THAN 2 46 STORIES!!!! BUT ALL I GOT TO SAY WHEN A BIG COMPANY COME TO ATLANTA WITH A TALL SKYSCRAPER ANOTHER ONE BEHIND IT WHO KNOW WE MIGHT HAVE PEOPLE OVERSEAS PLANNING TO COME TO ATLANTA AND GET ANOTHER SKYSCRAPER PROBALY LIKE 9 OR 10 HUGE COMPANIES BRING 3 TALL SKYSCRAPERS EACH WE WILL BE SET

Sorry for the pessimism but we're probably 5+ months from seeing a new crane in Midtown apart from the Spring St student deal. And many of these announced deals do not have financing, which is somewhat critical. The Midtown MARTA station site and next phase of 12th and Midtown are likely to be the next deals out of ground and will likely be late spring. Though I have no idea on the Loudermilk condos at 7th.
