I like it but, it's quite big for the narrow site. There's no setbacks for the long faces. (i.e. gas station looks like it's in the podium.) I think approval will be hard pressed.

I'd be interested to see what will be proposed in the future for that Petro-Can site. If it ever is redeveloped it will need to be a very thing tower for that location.

So, I think these images have been posted before, but apparently we have official heights now.

Kelowna"s current tallest is 81 meters (Landmark 6, office, completed in 2013) but Kelowna has a good chance of getting much taller now.

The revised Westcorp hotel / condo proposal will be 131 meters.

My favourite is Alberni as well. West Georgia is the boldest by far of any project in Canada including some non mentioned contenders in Vancouver. 320 Granville expresses Vancouver designers not knowing when to stop designing. The folds are completely unnecessary and unsympathetic to the concept. Don't get me wrong, it's still a nice curvaceous tower but, less would have been better. It's not what I would call bold in either case.

It's striking that it's different however, the lines of the building with the inclusion of the balconies is not attractive to me. It's also way too tall. Good luck to the developer.

It's 29 floors...there is a 19 storey tower across the street, and 1 block away is the 32 storey 1 Bedford on Bloor...

This is where we won't see eye to eye.

How the crow flies is not how you design highrise communities will the least amount of impact. One Bedford is on a major arterial. This is a block to the north on a local residential street with a single family community another block further north of this proposal. Appropriate height and scale is something that serves as a transition from Bloor to the single family community. That means a lower height.

The 19 storey tower is actually next door and not across the street. You do realize the number of floors is around 50% less of 29. (not even considerating the lower ceiling heights from when it was built) That's a significant difference in height so I don't know what point you were making. Granted the 19 storey tower is a slab so it's impact is greater than of a point tower of similar height, However, this proposed infill is of a small site with a fairly high lot coverage. It's impact is similar to the slab and will only add to the wall effect already created by the slab apartment building on the public space behind it.

You're right, we aren't going to agree on this...

This won't be the tallest tower in the neighbourhood, so I see no need to get any feathers ruffled by the height.

Your "neighbourhood to the North", and the whole area in general, has seen more and more height added over the decades... you strike me as someone who has no interest in the growing of a city, you can't seem to stand anything taller than what is already there... if we go along that route then it will seem as if things are stagnating.. you do realize that ALL of the tallest towers in their neighbourhoods, were built despite people like you wishing they hadn't been... things change over time...
