So just like the name of the project, it's just a "dream". It needs financial backers if it were to be made real. But this is too "lofty" (too extensive) a dream to become real any day soon.

Of course there's always the NDP in need of votes and Selinger's future...

Who knows.

Assiniboia Community Committee approved an application for a 6 storey, 127 room hotel with one of Hilton's brands for Seasons. The applicant is also going to build a separate beer vendor. With that, I do not see it being a core Hilton, but perhaps a Garden Inn.

^ I agree with JimJ, fantastical proposals like this crop up with some regularity but nothing ever emerges from them. Considering that the project as described would probably cost well over a billion dollars to develop, it isn't hard to see why.

I'm thinking this can only happen if it's backed by some oil rich prince from Saudi Arabia or UAE who has money to throw away. Would it be great for the province and city? Sure, but I'm not holding my breath. Dream.

It is a Hilton Garden Inn.

That Dreamscape thing has been around for years. It looks like they have updated their website. Millions of square feet of space under one roof. Definitely sounds like something thought up in China or the Middle East. I'd say the chances are slightly lower than zero.

^ Not that I really want the Kenaston area to become a destination for visitors, but I am a bit surprised that it's taken this long for a new hotel to sprout up over there. I'm also surprised that it will have a beer vendor... that's uncommon for new builds. Although I guess the good people of Linden Woods and Whyte Ridge don't really have a vendor handy, so it's a good business opportunity.

We will never see anything like this. This isn't Disneyland.

Is this under construction yet? The sign was up, but nothing of note was happening last week.

Reality picture will be. Stucco panels. No wood as they will cut costs. It will look like some other ugly cubed ones in the city I won't mention.

^ You think so? The rendering doesn't look extravagant... it's one thing if the drawings show gilded golden statues of a winged chariot on the roof, obviously that would get cut. But Urban Glo looks pretty restrained.

from the dreamscape faq:

"Q. Can I park and walk right into DreamScape?
A. This will not be an available option for entry. Our guest’s safety is our main priority and proper security measures must be set in place. Each guest must go through a security checkpoint prior to boarding the monorail which will transport you to DreamScape. "

What the fuck is this place, Logan's Run?

That dreamscape thing is just a fantasy. Not the slightest chance that would ever be built. Keeps rearing it's head every once in a while.

Even if it wasn't obviously bullshit I'd hate it because of shit like that. There are supposed to be condos in this place. Are they going to ride the monorail through security checkpoints too? Anything to keep the plebs out. You'd think this was South Africa or something.
