The floor a week thing is a myth started on the forums, I have never seen an official, confirmed quote stating that the tower would rise at one floor per week. A floor every 10 days sounds a bit more like reality. Still more than enough to meet the deadline.

The progress is fast enough for me. I cannot wait until I can visit in September. I am even more fascinated with the construction of Tower four.

That quote actually comes from Port Authority officials, who said the tower would rise "about' a floor a week. That means overall, the average would be about that. I guess some people took that to mean literally there will be only one floor to rise every week. But it has been stated multiple times by the Port Authority.

one quick question.

why on the original tower 1 there were 4 cranes constructing it but on the new tower 1 there are only 2 cranes?

Its to do with the shape of the core the new 1wtc core is totaly diffrent from the old as u can see in construction photos.

Actually the WTC was the first building in the USA to use Kangaroo cranes.

Are you talking about the internal climbing cranes, they were used at the Goldman Sach, The New York Times and 4 WTC sites all in NYC.

The site plan calls for 2 more cranes to be added, we'll have to wait and see if that is actually going to be the case.

According to the PA, there will be only two cranes.

As I said, I'm taking a wait and see approach on the more tower cranes issue.

On another note, the west side construction elevator tower is being installed as per the site plan. ( notice the white lattice columns in the bottom of the first and last pics NYGuy posted)

PS: The site plan is over 3 years old and I'm sure some things have changed in that time.
