I LOVE Vancouver's City Hall. It's a beautiful building and the view from it is to die for.

Unfortunately it is the antithesis of what one may think a City Hall should be. It is set apart from the city, has absolutely no social interaction, is very user unfriendly, and the grounds themselves are completely devoid of life or vitality. There are no social events held there at all or even any cultural ones. Unless you have to pay a bill or get some specific government document, you could happily live in Vancouver for 20 years and not even know what the building is.

Is it a lovely building but as much character as your standard black high rise TD Bank building that every other city in the country has. It really is a beautiful rendition of a suburban office building.............a functional 9 to 5 building and absolutely nothing more than that.

Kitchener's City Hall is the setting for the opening ceremonies of Oktoberfest.

Love the modern touch those new buildings add to Montreals skyline, before that it looked like the city hit the '90s and then just stopped.

Hamilton's has a clock that might work sometimes. (Unless they got rid of it while renovating.)

Ottawa's has a few parks around it with the occasional festival.

Gatineau's has a small theatre where musical concerts and plays are often performed.

With 3 tall towers finished within months of each other (1250 Rene Levesque (second tallest), 1000 de la Gauchetiere (tallest), and 1501 McGill College (6th tallest); all completed in 1992), Montreal was overbuilt with office space, just as the prolonged recession (and concomitant political uncertainty) of the nineties took hold. Very little went up during the remainder of the decade. A substantial lot of 15-30 storey condo towers were erected since 2000, but most were built north/west of the main skyline, so they are not really apparent from afar.

Toronto City Hall always holds cultural events! Festivals, fireworks, concerts, skating, public art, etc.

You mean the incredibly iconic, global landmark Hollywood sign? What about the LOVE sculpture in Philadelphia? Is it as silly as that? Or the ridiculous INY graphic? Yeah, we don't want any such silliness in Toronto.

Don't ask people not to debate a topic. Just stop making debatable assertions. Problem solved.

^ I love it... It's all about branding. About time Toronto markets itself more into a destination
