We shall see what happens. If it is to be built. it should be built right.

I'm curious how much of a rarity it is for the feds to take over a provincial project? Does this seem really 'out there' or not that unexpected given the environmental/political impacts?

IIRC the feds stepped in for EA for one section of Highway 69 twinning.

^Merci!!

Good news for us, A20 will be back on the PQI (Plan Québécois des Infrastructures) before the end of this government term.

I hope that it will be twinned too, that's what he said during the election campaign.

Interesting ride. thanks for sharing. Rimouski looks bigger than I remember it (It has been at least 30 years since I last visited).

Trois-Pistoles to Rimouski: Just trace A20 east of Rivière-du-Loup and see what's missing.

What's going on with the 427 extension? I heard that the work is completed but it's still not open.

Can't remember the reason, but the courts are involved. Without looking back, I think Ontario is saying the new stretch isn't up to quality standards or something.

The grading isn’t sufficient to ensure water drains off the road apparently.

Thanks for the info. I have a friend down there who travels the 427 regularly and is frustrated at the backlog of traffic getting off at Hwy 7.
He lives in Bolton so the extension would help him a lot.

Holy smokes. So far, most of the deep rock cuts in Canadian Shield are found in Quebec:
https://www.google.com/maps/@45.6658151,...sjben5qrsvCzg!2e0!7i16384!8i8192!5m1!1e4
This one should be 30 m deep. (I checked the terrain map too.)

What about this one? 45 m??

Check out highway 6 in BC beside Slocan Lake. Lots of big rock work there.

Street view please.
Indeed, some rock cuts in the Cordillera can be insane, like Parks Bridge on TCH. Making deep cuts in Canadian Shield, one of the oldest (hence firmest) geological formation, is very different from doing the same in the Rockies or in the coastal mountains, though. (Of course, there are very different considerations in both scenarios too.)
