Here's the rendering for Block 22. Perhaps this might help orient you.

I thought The Shore was at 602 Davis Street? That's what the American Statesman said. ?

I have no idea what those concrete walls are for. Although I bet that corner will be one of the corners where a crane will be. I'm thinking these buildings that are covering the entire block will need to have 3 cranes probably, as the Frost Bank Tower, and the Hilton did. Although, 300 West Sixth only had 2. Not sure, at any rate, the skyline is going to be full of tower cranes again.

Thanks for posting those, Mopacs. I do remember those renderings. More specifically, thought, I was curious to see what the city recently installed along 2nd St. I know of some people working with the city who deal with streetscaping. I was told they had just finished quite a bit of work on 2nd Street and that it looked good. I was hoping for some updated pics of 2nd Street where streetscaping has been done.

I heard from a forum member from Austin that the concrete structure at the southeast corner of the Block 22 lot, (AMLI II), he said that the structure is to protect a historic structure at the site. Construction should start soon then if they've set that up to protect it during construction of the tower.

Wow, I don't think I ever saw that rendering for block 22. I mean, wow, it looks really ugly. I hope it turns out looking better than it's drawn. I guess it just doesn't seem to be modern looking enough for that area. Could just be me though.

Yeah, with the scan it's hard to tell, but it kind of reminds me of the CSC building...

I noticed that Zom freshened up their website -- www.zomusa.com. The downloadable fact sheet on the Monarch now lists a June 2006 start date. Makes sense considering they're clearing the site out now. This building looks like it'll be a cool design addition to that area.

You're right. 602 Davis St. is the address for The Shore condominiums. Maybe 603 Davis St. (across the street) is where Kimpton is putting it's 254-room boutique hotel, 40-50 condo building? Or, maybe it's the 30-story "Legacy" project I heard being mentioned about a month or two ago???

That is correct. The historic structure is the Schneider store beer cellar.

I was planning on posting a panorama of the 2nd Street District I took from the balconey below the City Hall stinger yesterday with periodic updates as construction in the district ramps up. But I'm not able to post attachments.

I'd also like to post 2nd Street streetscape images on the 2nd Street thread.

Hi SecretAgentMan, we would all LOVE to see your panoramic pictures of 2nd Street, I know I would.

To post pictures on the forum they need to be on the internet, not just on your computer. You can use a free image host website like Photobucket.com, or imageshack.us. I use Photobucket and it's great.

A few links here to free image hosting websites.

http://imageshack.us/

Once you've created your free image host account at one of those sites you'll need to upload it, it's easy, just follow the steps at those sites. Then you can post your pictures on the forum, it's easy.

For help with posting pictures on the forum, here's a help guide:

Cool, and you're welcome. So do you work at City Hall? The Stinger isn't open to the public is it? I'd like go up there to take pictures myself. That is going to be such a cool place/view in a few years.

Ooh wee, I'm getting excited!

The BALCONEY is open whenever the building is.

Can you define "Involved"? Do you want to work with developers or do you want to invest?

I think the NewCenturyLiving people are hiring. Spring is supposed to ramp up soon. Not sure about the others.

I would just send them an email or call. There's much more activity in Dallas.

I would like to work with developers. As of now, I don't really have much to invest. The experience would be a great learning tool, even if I were to hold a very low level position. Investing in future projects is definitely a long term goal. For now, I have developed a habit to maintain a network of potential investors, like family friends and acquaintences.

Thanks for your input!
