Apart from the Manulife Centre, every scraper seen in that pic did not exist.

That wavy building on the left is one of the tackiest of Toronto's 20+-year skyscraper boom, imo.

The balcony theme would look more awesome if it encompassed the entire tower. Personally, There's worst architectural themes and the cladding is top notch. There's YC on Yonge. Dundas East is one abysmal tower after another. Social, Dundas Square Gardens, Grid are all just wretched.

I actually like YC, Social, and especially Grid...from a distance, I should specify. I guess it's all in the proverbial eye of the beholder.

Yeah - could be better but overall I think it's of higher architectural quality than most of what's going up now. Not to mention that the street level treatment and *actual* historic preservation is top notch, including having decent businesses (Bar Volo, Lao Lao Bar, even Aroma isn't the worst).

Sometimes I think that era was on average better for development than now. Investment driven schemes weren't quite as out of control...

Amazing picture. But I'll come out and say it: I don't like the national bank tower. Big boring glass box.

Amazing Montreal pic. Can anyone tell me the name of the building under construction in front of 980 Saint-Antoine?

I don't mind it although it would be better if it weren't right front and centre in the skyline since it blocks and detracts from some of the more interesting stuff. It also kind of crowds Tour de la Bourse. Would have been perfect for that big parking lot near Philips Square.

Thank goodness the 900 S-J isn't a glass tower, it would have been too much. That tower is looking mighty good for a rental tower, I'd say.

Yeah I don't mind FIVE. I'd probably place it in the top 50% of buildings from the last decade. The design could have been executed better but at least there's a certain sleekness to the exterior that you don't see in buildings with a lot of individual protruding balconies.
