Did anyone attend this public meeting?

If so, what was the gist of it? Did they have any renderings of the buildings?

If you look at the permit filing https://www.austintexas.gov/devrevie...erRSN=11155900 , scroll to the bottom of the page, click on the Attachment called "Rec for CC Action" there is a one-page summary that describes the filing:

Quote:
The proposed Austin Oaks Planned Unit Development (PUD) is a 31.37-acre mixed use project generally located at the southeast corner of Spicewood Springs Road and MoPac Expressway, and includes residential, office, and retail components. Though still in a conceptual planning stage, the project may include 610 townhome and multifamily units, 850,000 square feet of office space, and 100,000 square feet of retail.

The project is unique in at least two ways. First, the proposed PUD is for the redevelopment of existing multistory office buildings dating from the 1970s and 1980s, rather than the development of a vacant or undeveloped site. Second, the proposed PUD includes the existing street network, with PUD areas on both the north and south sides of Executive Center Drive, and both the east and west sides of Wood Hollow Drive.

The development assessment process requires city staff to present the PUD to City Council at an early stage of the staff review process for Council’s consideration and input. City staff will continue their review, and the PUD will be presented to City Council for final approval at a later date.
And, if you click on the Attachment "Agenda Backup" and go to Page 23, there is the below site plan that describes what they want to build. 225' is pretty tall for a suburban office building (Kevin can verify). If anyone attended, I would love to know what was covered and what the public's reaction was.

Yes, 225 feet would be taller than anything outside of the core. Tower of the Hills and Pinnacle Campus are currently the tallest outside of the core at 160 and 161 feet. So that would be significantly taller.

That's Pinnacle Campus. It's 161 feet with 10 floors. It's actually the tallest in Austin outside of the core.

Thanks. I was thinking it was around 200ft. But glad to know the official height.

Not sure where to post this. All that bridge talk on the History thread got me looking around online at bridges. I knew the Shoal Creek Conservancy wanted to get the West 6th Street bridge over Shoal Creek recognized on the National Register of Historic Places.

In July, the Texas Historical Commission approved the nomination.

I like it but I wish they would keep that nice 6 story building and make this one taller.

Wow, that UT building is pretty blah. Looks like something straight outta the early 1980's. But it will fit in in the area and it's better than what's there now.

Got some feedback - albeit third-hand - from someone who knows someone who went to the community meeting. Apparently there were materials handed out but my source did not know if there were renderings included. The three tallest buildings listed on that site plan will be 14 stories (225' tall), 11 stories (210' tall) and 8 stories (125' tall). The buildings are going to be built in phases and the timeline extends to 2030, basically 15+ years, so nothing is going to happen very fast. The total size of the project will be ~1.7M square feet. I didn't get any other details.

The views from a 14 story building at that location will be interesting. Hopefully this isn't another Tom Stacy-style boondoggle, with lots of hype then nothing happens.

The difference being his was an 830' new tallest and this is something not too many will care about especially given the timeline.

Great minds... I was thinking 1982.

Cirrus Logic expansion - 97 feet - 6 floors

Texas PTA Headquarters - 80 feet - 5 floors

There's a panel missing from the Austonian on the 46th floor on the northwest corner.

That panel is still missing? I noticed that about 2 weeks ago if my memory is correct.

There's a missing panel? I hope this isn't indicative of a larger problem.

State of Texas poised to sell coveted 75 acre Bull Creek site

I was just thinking about that site the other day. I'd love to see high-density stuff there because it has SO MUCH potential but it's located in NIMBY central so I'm not particularly optimistic
