The big apartment development, that has been under construction for quite sometime, in fact part of it may already be open, is to the north west of the station park development accross Park Lane (a very busy road that accesses the on/off ramps for I-15, Legacy Parkway, and Highway 89. I'm not sure if there is walking access underneath Park Lane, I don't think that there is. I think that there are a couple other residential developments, as well as additional retail planned for that side of Park Lane but is not tied directly to Station Park and is further away from the Front Runner station than Station Park itself is

I agree with you 100% Delts, that it makes total sense to have residential, as part of the Station Park Development and as I mentioned prior, the original plans had residential on the Station Park property but no longer do.

The CentralCal website, the developer of the property, mentions NOTHING about residential on site and integrated into the project The project will consist of approximately eight hundred thousand square feet of retail, entertainment, restaurant, office and hotel space. No mention of residential, and I doubt they would leave it out, because currently there is no hotel or office, yet that is mentioned on the site.

Ultimately it is another suburban shopping center, that simply has slightly better transit access.
It's Park Lane Village, part of the larger Park Lane Commons across the street - http://www.utahprojects.info/Project...k-Lane-Commons

You're right in that it's not officially a part of Station Park, but that entire area combined is creating what appears to be a TOD.

Just a little something that I found that is proposed in Brigham City. It might be a nice addition to the town if it happens. Though it would be nice to see this next to the temple also -

I really like that rendering for the Brigham City campus. Am I supposed to like it? I like it. Now I'm embarrassed.

But I like it.

Once I realized it wasn't a parking lot but a plaza/walkable area I really liked it too. I'm guessing this is the first of a few buildings.

You are correct. The apartments are technically not apart of station park. I was stating the overall area. I cant say to much because it hasnt been announced yet. However Center Cal has purchased most of the remaining land to the west on both sides of park lane and north west of Station Park. The plan I saw was rough. But there IS more coming alot more.

After our initial discussion and me railing on Station Park not being a TOD, I decided I should make another visit, since it had been a while. I stand by my initial comments that Station Park is NOT a TOD, it is a TAD, (adjacent). The apartments to the north, across Park Lane/1100 W have pedestrian access to Front Runner but only via the Legacy Parkway trail that crosses under Park Lane directly next to the tracks. There is no sidewalk leading from the apartment complex across Park Lane, and the entrance to Station Park is not designed to accommodate sidewalks. So those living in the Apartment complex to the north have two ways of accessing shopping. One; take the legacy parkway trail that is adjacent to the tracks, and then trek across the vast sea of parking to get to the shopping, or Two; drive. I would bet good money that not a single resident of the apartments has walked to Harmons or the Megaplex.

To put it in today's terms Station Park = TOD FAIL!

As development around FrontRunner stations continues to increase I hope they look at Station Park and learn some very valuable lessons.

I just finished a planning book that talked about transit and TODs, and the number one thing the author said about the reasons attempted TODs fail is that no one getting off of a train wants to venture across hundreds of yards of asphalt to get to a store, movie theatre, home, etc. Station Park was the first thing that came to my mind.

Can't wait to see what these future housing plans are for the area. So far the only housing I've seen are the apartment complex that is across a busy street.

New Bountiful City Hall

Bountiful to break ground for city hall on Feb. 19

BOUNTIFUL — Crews will break ground for the new city hall here on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 5 p.m.

The new building will be on the same campus as the existing city hall and existing Bountiful/Davis Art Center, but the art building will be demolished. Its operation will move to the existing city hall when city staffers move into their new building.

Construction on the $4.8 million building is expected to be complete by March of 2014.

The $2.4 million remodel of the existing city hall will be funded by the redevelopment project fund, and the new construction will be funded from the capital projects budget.

The civic campus is located at 745 S. Main Street and the ceremonies will take place to the west of the arts building, according to a notice from the office of the mayor. In addition to the art center and city hall, the campus is home to the Bountiful Police Department.

Once completed, the new city hall will face Main Street. The project is intended to be more pedestrian-friendly than the existing structure and will allow for more storage, technological upgrades and more.

Ogden Union Station

]I've been looking at pictures of Union Station lately and have really started to wonder why the place isn't used as a train station today?? I mean the frontrunner tracks go right alongside the building. Anyone know why? I think it would be amazing to restore the building to its former use!

Just notice the streetview for Ogden has been added to Bing. Not quite HD but definitely better quality than Google's current view. http://www.bing.com/maps/?v=2&cp=qw3...82&FORM=LMLTCC

Not trying to advocate Bing over Google, but Salt Lake is one of the largest areas out there to not get HD treatment from them. It's also really outdated (like nearly 5 years old).

It must be pretty new as you can see the new hotel at the Junction (which looks atrocious by the way). Not sure if they've updated the rest of Utah.

Ogden River Parkway development

The development of the area around the Ogden River Parkway is fully under way. A few shots of the current construction:

The new townhomes going up. Not sure if these are 2-3 flats or what but it looks like separate units per floor. They look pretty nice. You can also see the new temple peaking.

Townhomes from the River Parkway.

Here's some of the new retail at the site fronting Washington Blvd. Bingham was the first development here and has been around for a couple years.

Here's the new retail:

Kneaders. Outdoor seating and all, looks great.

Here's a panaroma of the entire project. Forgive the bad stiching, some transients were creeping up on me

This project looks amazing so far. You can get good urban design from companies (bingham, kneaders, etc.) if you make them adhere to guidelines. I don't know if any other Utah city is trying as hard as Ogden.

Got shots of other projects going on downtown as well that I'll post.

The new hotel is fugly, but I guess it could always be worse. Wish we would have gotten something more along the lines what they got in WVC.

In other Ogden development news, this is going in across from the Weber County Library on the corner of 25th Street and Jefferson (2 streets East of Washington). It looks like it includes some sort of renovation of the old Gold's Gym Building (Weber College Gymnasium) and then a modern building on the corner.

I took these pics a couple weeks ago, my how the weather changes quickly.

I was in Ogden most of the weekend with a LEGO group displaying at Union Station--there are a lot of fun smaller restaurants and shops around there. Great place to spend the weekend!
