Edit - Stupid question. The tournament is in August/September.
I've always been a huge basketball fan but for the first 15 years I only watched Canadian/US college basketball and national team games. I added NBA about 5 years ago but still prefer watching college and international basketball.

Canada currently has 13 players on NBA rosters and there are another 8 Canadians who have declared for the NBA draft on June 20th. By the time the WC rolls around, being a NBA player won't guarantee you a spot on the national team. We likely won't have an all-NBA squad either. I imagine a couple non-NBA players will be chosen over NBA talent in the name of team chemistry. Melvin Ejim and possibly Brady Heslip fall into that category. That said, this might be the last time where our national team has non-NBA talent on it.

That shot reminded me a lot of the shot Vince Carter missed all those years ago. This guy is a machine who willed the raptors to the next round.

I would like to think they match up well vs the Bucks but Milwaukee is just eating playoff opponents alive right now.

Too many superlatives right now. Too many feelings. But I gotta say this: Kawhi is the greatest Raptor of all time bar none. I'll never forgot watching that game 7 where Vince missed the potential winner against Philly back in 2001. Vince didn't deliver. Kawhi did.

Wow.

I've rewatched it five times now. That was the most dramatic and exciting moment in Raptors' franchise history.

Wow.

Some guy on Twitter:

Quote:
That’s the first game-winning buzzer-beater in a Game 7 in NBA history.

It’s the 2nd one in a winner-take-all game alongside Jordan’s “The Shot”

This will be an iconic NBA photo.

First ever buzzer beater to win a game 7.

So many buzzer-beaters in the history of NBA playoffs, and so many Game 7's played - amazing that this was the first time those two elements were combined.

That moment ranks up there with Joe Carter's World Series winning walk-off home run.

Just watched the replay. It was a great moment - but yeesh - that wouldn't have been necessary if he had hit his free throw with 11 seconds on the clock to make it a three point game.

Kids, practice your free throws!

Joe Carter's won a championship, this won a series.

I didn't say it was better than Joe Carters moment... just that it ranks up there.
Many of sports greatest moments don't involve winning the championship - ie. Dwight Clark's "The Catch", Franco Harris' "The Immaculate Reception", etc.

Wouldn't there be quite a few series-clinching overtime goals in the history of the NHL playoffs?

Patrick Kane won the Stanley cup with an overtime goal in 2010. It was kind of underwhelming in that it wasn't immediately obvious it went in and he was the only one celebrating for the first few seconds.

It was also remarkably similar to Crosby's Olympic Gold winning goal that same year.

The Stanley Cup has been won 17 times on a series-clinching overtime goal. But only twice in a game 7. The other 15 times were in games 4, 5 or 6.

And many series have been won on an overtime goal, and quite a few of those were in a game 7. (I've witnessed two of them in person.)

I regret my choice of watching Game of Thrones over the Raptors last night.

Still buzzing. Jeez, the last time I felt such a thrill from the drama of a win by my favourite team was when NC State (my team through an uncle living there) won the NCAA championship on that iconic buzzer-beating dunk by Lorenzo Charles in 1983.

Joe Carter's home run in 1993 was like that too, though I'm not a baseball fan, so while I observed the moment passively I didn't participate in it emotionally.

I think I was still more pumped for Bautista's bat-flip homerun in 2015 but that was mostly just because of the absurdity of the entire hour-long inning that preceded it. It was a much longer buildup than the last few minutes of yesterday's game, even though the result was overall less important.

I was born hours after Carter's walkoff homerun so I missed that whole ordeal.

Yes, I agree. I'd put this on the same tier as Jose and his bat flip for iconic Toronto playoff moments outside of a championship scenerio.

This will be iconic for Leanord.

MJ''s "The Shot" was in the first round and has been on repeat for as long as I can remember as one of his defyning moments.
