That said, great airport outside of that.
i fly at least monthly and i've never noticed them to be any worse than other airports. there's usually an attendant in there keeping stuff in check. surprised to hear this feedback.

Maybe I was in a weird section but I did a first glance at the toilet and thought it was clogged. Turns out the porcelain was stained red/brown. I tried taking my daughter to the bathroom and couldn’t find an empty stall that wasn’t disgusting (granted this was the men’s restroom so when are they ever clean).

I think I was expecting bathrooms like at Schiphol in Amsterdam which are probably the best ones I’ve experienced.

There’s a trend in improving airport bathrooms throughout the US.

Here in AUS the bathrooms in the eastern expansion are a great example. A large amount of stalls that are big enough to bring your bag inside. They have door locks that clearly show if the stall is occupied. It also has plenty of natural lighting.

The only quirk are those silly over-sink Dyson hand driers that make it impossible to avoid touching the sink or the drier itself. I’m always walking out wiping my hands on my pants.

But yes the older bathrooms elsewhere in the terminal leave a lot to be desired.

Commission looks at speeding up Austin airport expansion

The Austin-Bergstrom International Airport's advisory board is seeking to expedite the multibillion-dollar expansion planned for the Central Texas aviation hub.

The Airport Advisory Commission, which acts as an intermediary between the Austin Department of Aviation and Austin City Council, earlier this month approved the formation of a working group to look at speeding up the expansion process, which could result in a new midfield concourse being built with up to 10 gates over the next decade-plus.

I believe April was down a smidgen too. But, Y-O-Y is up by more than 9%! If that holds, AUS will process roughly 23 million passengers this year.

No complaints here. Nice to not see the congestion issue getting worse while we get the west infill and west terminal extension finished.

Are there any rendering of the west infill? I haven't seen any. Also, what is being worked on behind the construction wall between security pt 3 and gate 13?

Agree, the old restrooms are approaching old Newark terminal 1 status. The faucets in the renovated restrooms are bad too. I have seen that design in LAX and I believe Den.

This was a presentation to the Design Commission last week on the West Gate Expansion with some renderings (if that's what you're looking for):

West Infill is expanding TSA Checkpoint 3 and baggage handling

West Infill is in pre-design phase - if I am correct. The expansion (installation of the new) outbound baggage handling system is making way for said infill (expanded checkpoint 3) project.

Allegiant Air suing operator of Austin airport's South Terminal

Allegiant claims that LoneStar Airport Holdings has been making deals in secret, affecting the airline's operations.
AUSTIN, Texas — The operator of the Austin airport's South Terminal is now looking at a potential legal battle with an airline.

This week, Allegiant Air filed a 215-page lawsuit against LoneStar Airport Holdings LLC, the company that operates the airport's South Terminal, alleging that LoneStar has been making deals with the City of Austin in secret, affecting the airline's overall operations.

Allegiant Air moved its operations to Austin in 2021 and built infrastructure at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport to support its move. But the lawsuit claims that LoneStar entered into a secret license agreement with the City of Austin that involved the land Allegiant was using for its new infrastructure.
