Harry Potter! Easily my favorite tower design between it and 1035. Great to hear that it's moving forward. My guess is that if the demo permits have been issued at 1061 and 1107 Van Buren, the developer is planning to get rid of that tiny slice of Aberdeen that cuts down to Tilden and have the footprint expand across that entire section.

I actually really like it when the bridges are up and make a temporary view cap. Not exactly "beautiful," but unique for sure. It's funny, because the first time I actually noticed them doing that was about a decade after I moved here and had worked in the Loop most of that time, lol!

I like these - this is just Google Streetview, which doesn't show them best, but in certain times of day with the right angle I really like them:

Crains is reporting that a developer wants to build a 30 storey apartment tower in Pilsen

This is surely going to go over well with the neighbors

I like the way it looks but it does seem highly unlikely to be welcomed by the neighborhood given their reaction to other proposals. Also, where do they get that much FAR? If they have to achieve it by leaving a bunch of empty lots around it then I would be much less supportive.

Edit: I also am not generally a fan of that kind of density over a ten minute walk from rapid transit rail because it does bump up the traffic which would probably slow down the 8/Halsted and the 21/Cermak busses even more. On the plus side, it's near a lot of great breweries, like the new Low Rez one.

Also, is it the lot next to the office building, or across the street from it? I thought it would be next to it, but then the article said something about fronting Cermak, which would put it across the street. Finally while not the worst parking podium, it still has plenty of room to improve that aspect, IMO.

Edit2: based on the red water tower, it appears to be on the corner of Canalport and Morgan, which means that small building between it and the office building would have to go.

For some reason the tress in this rendering remind me of palms. That said, this feels to me like it could have been a proposed Double Tree Hotel for Houston circa 1998.

frankly i wouldnt blame the neighbors in this case, and i doubt you'd want to live next door to it either. this guy sounds like a hack.

Makes me think of Riverfront Towers in Detroit. Which were 1980's I think

The only thing that might possibly fit with the neighborhood is that it looks like a generic Latin American apartment tower.

Don't worry, I have a feeling after all is said and done there will be some major rebranding...
