Without crediting it to a source in a position to know, I wouldn't just take that number with a grain of salt... I'd completely dismiss it out of hand.

Like I said before, if the number was that impressive Ben Myers probably would have been here right away proclaiming the good news.

Was told 70 by a salesman/realtor at the sales office, but he was referring to the open house I believe. 125 is the number I got from an agent I know with Royal Lepage. It's not fact, but I personally believe it's true considering my source. That being said, there is the 7 day cooling off period which I am sure will drop a few buyers.

75 units is not 50% sold. I believe there are between 374 and 388 residential units in the tower. Floors 10 through 43 have 11 units each, plus penthouse units I guess?

Not sure if it is WSD1 or what is happening but the usual adult ESL crowd has been more active in the building at Smith and Portage starting in September. This could match up to the report about WSD1 relocating programs there. I recall they used to have a floor or so of space for lease.

We didn't make it to triple digits, but we are very happy with the results over weekend. We are working to confirm, but looks like the opening at SkyCity achieved the highest sales velocity of any condominium apartment launch in Winnipeg's history. We are currently working on a deal which would be the highest selling condo (new or resale) in Manitoba's history.

We will be putting out a press release either next week or in early November.

The media was out in force at the Ribbon Cutting ceremony

At one point there were 120 people in line It actually curled around the block

Downtown Winnipeg Biz took a great picture of the model suite

City Councillor Mike Pagtakhan was impressed with the turnout

Here are some pictures of the sales office, scale model and ribbon cutting. Also more on the SkyCity Facebook Page

Biff was outlining they need to sell roughly 75 more units, on top of the 125, to make it to 50%. Since Ben just outlined they didn't make it to triple digits, 125 appears to be high.

So what are we talking here, around 75? If so, that's not bad but the figure will have to be more than doubled to get to the halfway point, so still a fairly long way to go.

That would be pretty impressive... I presume 1 Wellington is the titleholder? I don't think a unit has changed hands in there for less than 1 million...

I'm assuming they have someone in discussions on a large penthouse suite at SkyCity. A custom unit.

Theres also the penthouse unit at 250 Marion for $1.2M. Maybe they were expecting some high paid doctor that works at St. B to buy it for when he has to roll out of bed at 4am for an emergency surgery

I dont know if those A/C units were installed so the workers could keep cool, or if theyre actually offering a penthouse condo for $1.2M without central air. But wait, it is a concrete build for "extra quietness"(Anyone else think Brad Gross is from out of this world?)...

Very nice to here. I'm happy the launch was successful. I'll be looking forward to the numbers being released in the not to distant future and continued success.

That is ridiculous... who in their right mind would spend $1.2 million to live in a drab area filled with homes worth 10% of that amount?

I'd be shocked if they sold it at that price without having to carve it up into a bunch of much smaller units.

Looks like there's two units like that and one is sold... St. B'ers sure love their B.

There's a large number of francophones that aren't ever going to move out of Old St. B. There's bound to be a few high net worth individuals within that group. That's likely the target demographic.

Old St. B already has some pretty big, expensive homes. Norwood Flats has a bunch. Here's another example:

^ I'm not surprised that there are people with means who want to live in Old St. B. I'm just surprised that there are apparently people willing and able to buy a million dollar condo in such a piece of junk building... that's a $199,999 condo building, not a $1.2 million condo building.

Double or nothing that the buyer of the other suite was the developer of this project!!!

Well, a few pages ago when we were trying to guess the number of units sold on the opening weekend I guess 75. So I will stay with my initial guess. Still not bad.

Perhaps its just the realtors laziness, but the listing is for 400-250 Marion, and in the floor plan drawing, it has a "sold" written next to unit 400. Just a tad bit confusing.

^ Maybe someone bought it, came to their senses and has put it back on the market?

BTW I sent that other home rypinion posted to my wife... I think she's ready to liquidate our assets to buy it today

Ya that is confusing. I looked at the photo and assumed it was 407 for sale.

My mistake, I thought you were commenting on the area, not just the building itself.

I love old St. B... I will definitely consider it when looking for my next home. Even though it's a great area, Goulet and to a lesser extent Marion have the ugly stroad thing going on, which is not uncommon for busy one-way streets. It just doesn't seem like a likely setting for a million dollar condo. And the building itself certainly doesn't shout out million dollar condos.
