I like the new design more. It's broken up a bit and has more, I don't know...texture.

I pass by that lot everyday after work. This would be such a busy spot when the light rail comes along

I really hope they go for 90 feet here. Does anyone know if they have applied for it?

Huge waste to build 60 feet, or whatever is currently allowed.

Plans on hold to redevelop site of old Austin Opera House off South Congress Avenue

Quote:
A mixed-use project is proposed at 200 Academy, home of the former Austin Opera House, is being put on hold due to the state of Austin's real estate market.

Previous redevelopment plans for the property called for thousands of square feet of housing, office, retail and restaurant space that would be anchored by a new 17,500-square-foot music venue.

While the reason they cite is concerning at first blush, I doubt there is anything actually Austin-specific, and it is likely instead due to the burgeoning national economic downturn affecting Austin as much as anywhere else.

I apparently wasn't paying attention. I thought that site was redeveloped years ago.

The text describes the Borden Dairy Redevelopment, I posted a rendering of that project a while back. It was replaced by 127-211 Riverside a few days ago.
