Stripped all the way up to the corner:

You can see the attachment points for the old cladding,
I wonder what the extra structure is for on the 3rd floor?
There also look to be holes cut in the floors.

They've been working late at night taking down those panels.

It only looks that way because people don't realise how much Granville rises in elevation from Robson to Georgia.

The ramps encircling the old Cafe in the rotunda on the NE corner were quite steep for some people.

BTW:

Has anyone played with the touch-me screen on the mall level where the Sears entrance was ?

I saw it a few weeks ago, but it was being hogged by someone who looked like they were trying to get their email on it.

Oh, they do have a crane in there. I have been wondering how they are able to bring down those large tiles without any visible construction crane on site.

Seeing how much of the old building they need to be demolishing, they should have gone to rebuild the whole building...

The building already looks incredibly different without the white panels; thanks for the continuous updates officedweller.

It actually looks much larger now without that homogeneous expanse of white.

It may also look longer, because the top level has been pared back.

Hard to believe this is actually happening. How many years have we wished for this?

Oh happy day.

Memo sent around the office today.
Not sure where it's going to go - I would have thought the obvious place would be the Robson & Granville corner where there are openings in the floor, but the meo says that Howe will be closed...

Quote:
DATE: May 21, 2013

ATTENTION: All Office Tenants – Pacific Centre

WHAT: 725 Granville Redevelopment Project – Crane Installation

WHEN: Sunday, May 26, 2013 between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m.

WHERE: Howe Street between West Georgia Street and Robson Street
WHY: As part of the ongoing Redevelopment Project, Ledcor Construction will be erecting a tower crane on top of the old Sears building.

IMPACT: As a result of this work, the City of Vancouver will close Howe Street from West Georgia Street to Robson Street. Street permits and traffic control measures will be in place. The entrance to the Pacific Centre Easy Park parkade from Howe and Robson Streets will be unavailable, as well as the exit on Howe Street will be closed. Alternatively, the Smithe and Dunsmuir exits will be available for parkade egress.

In addition to the street closures, the truck delivery tunnel will be closed from early Sunday morning until late Sunday night and will be removed for the morning of Monday, May 27.

ummm...

maybe Howe is being temporarily closed to set up the mobile crane, which is being used to install the site crane ?
