^ such a weird location to be in a strip mall behind a big parking lot at the far end of the street....you'd think they would have preferred being on the walkable part close to the forks and residences.

I think this is mostly serving as a commercial bakery.

I heard that after their shift on Tuesday night, staff at Preservation Hall were told that the owners were bankrupt and this would be their final shift.

I just looked and the Open Table app is not taking reservations anymore for Preservation Hall.

Too bad. Ive heard its good despite never going. Pretty shitty spot for that kind of restaurant I'd think. No one lives there and it's a ghost town after peak shopping time.

If I recall correctly Preservation Hall either opened shortly before COVID or was lined up for an opening shortly after the full lock down happened. They had some good hype going into the that launch but coming out of COVID it was all quiet. Even if they managed to get a deal on rent over the lockdown era (unlikely) they just never really managed to re-launch themselves afterward and didn't really have long enough to establish themselves and recover naturally.

Too bad. He’s a great chef. I can’t imagine the location helped though. It was the kind of restaurant that you’d want to take out of towners or business clients to but a parking lot next to a mall will never be first choice.

Is it any worse location then the Joey and Earls at CF Polo Park parking lot or the Tony Roma's across St. James St. from the Joey?

No worse at all. That’s the point…it’s a location meant for chain restaurants, not a destination.

It’s been like that since at least Wednesday when I went for buck-a-shuck oysters with some friends and were denied.

Earl of Sandwich is very very good, that’s really unfortunate if they are already shutting down. The competition for restaurants over there by Outlet must be brutal though.

I see Bellamy’s on Dakota has a new sign with the name Grizzly. Does anyone know when the new concept will open?

On my nightly bike ride I went past the beer can. Always crazy how busy it is, it was packed at 9 pm on a Monday. They sure found a gold mine haha. It'd be slick if every neighbourhood could have a bumping beer garden as a local gathering place.

Yeah the Beer Can is incredibly popular. I go there once or twice a month. If you go on a Friday or Saturday night, good luck getting a table. There can easily be over 200 people there when it gets busy.
