PD are again back down to 3x to YYZ as the 2200 departure was cut a few days ago. However, all flights are E95s.

In an Air France media release regarding new service to RDU, it mentions that AF's service to Ottawa will be continuing throughout winter. I know this was the plan... but it's nice to see it reiterated as of today:

And it'll be on the B787-9!!

Quote:
Winter 2023-2024: Air France further expands North American network and introduces new service...

Service to Ottawa (Canada), inaugurated June 27, to continue for the 2023-2024 winter season

Canada: Up to 38 flights a week to 4 destinations this winter
Air France is also planning more flights higher north, from/to Canada. The top European carrier in terms of capacity between Europe and Canada, Air France will connect Paris-Charles de Gaulle to Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver and Ottawa all winter.

The non-stop service between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Ottawa recently introduced on June 27 will continue for the winter season. The airline will operate 5 flights every week, Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, on a Boeing 787-9 equipped with 279 seats (30 in Business, 21 in Premium Economy and 228 in Economy).

Flight schedules (local times):
AF328: Leaves Paris-Charles de Gaulle at 13h10, arrives in Ottawa at 15h05
AF327: Leaves Ottawa at 17h15, arrives at Paris-Charles de Gaulle next day at 06h05

Air France is the only carrier that offers non-stop flights between Ottawa and Europe.

Edit to my post above - I think it switches to the B787-9 when AF starts their winter schedule on/after Oct 30.

Well if true (and there’s no frequency reduction) that can’t mean anything but goodness…although equipment change isn’t showing in schedules yet.

Edit: I stand corrected. According to AF online B789 is showing starting Oct. 29. Gflights hasn’t scraped the change yet.

The route has to be doing exceptionally well if they're upgauging for the winter, right?

If the frequency holds at 5x, yes.

There's an article that says AF for 4000+ pax in the first two weeks of YOW-CDG.

https://ottawa.ctvnews.ca/4-000-peop...eeks-1.6477090

This would be fantastic loads, if true. Especially, considering the flight isn't daily.

There's been a 11 round trips so far, so 4928 seats of capacity total. So a lower bound is 81.2% load factor. Article doesn't say if that includes all flights so far or how far above 4000 it is.

This is fantastic news. For comparison, 4500 pax would be a 91% LF. It doesn't stop there.. playing around with Google flights this fall, AF is very competitive with the YOW-CDG route and in fact is the cheapest option. It's even cheaper than YUL-CDG on the same days I'm looking at by around $20-30.

We got some early morning diversions from YYZ. Rouge 319 from PDX, AC A330 from YVR, WS 738 from YVR and a Flair MAX (diverted from YKF).

Pretty amazing that AF are upgauging to start the shoulder season…which is when I’ll actually be using them for the first time.

Compared to the A330-220, their 787-9 has 6 less business seats but 61 more economy seats, so they've just added a bunch of inventory for those winter dates which should help bring prices down and (hopefully) keep them more competitive.

Edit: Their connection pricing is weird though. Looking at going to see the Sens in Sweden this year, round trip YOW-CDG is $851 (for all dates around then). If I change the destination to ARN, price rockets to minimum $1569 round trip. If I look at the CDG-ARN segments round trip it's $307 ($1158 total YOW-CDG-ARN). Obviously booking separate tickets pooches you if there's a misconnect, but weird that adding CDG-ARN leg almost doubles the price.

Maybe due to low inventory on the second leg?

Bad weather in YUL - first diversion is a WS MAX. Will update if anything interesting is coming.

Edit: AC 77W from FCO just landed. AC 789 from TLV enroute.

Saw a 789 depart about 45 minutes ago off 25.

I got diverted to Ottawa on my SFO to YUL flight, really frustrating to be on the tarmac in Ottawa and not being able to get off! Took 11h30 once we finally deplaned in YUL
