Yes. It is official. The HARMON will be dismantled.

It was announced a few days ago:

Las Vegas News - (12/7/10) Vegas fans, take a peek at some photos from City Center posted to Theme Park Review, as well as a few peeks inside the unfinished Harmon building, now set for demolition in 2012 it seems.
Construction on the project was stalled back in 2008 I believe, along with reports of some kind of construction error with the rebar in the tower that would not allow it to rise to it’s full height. The initial fix was to cap off the tower at a shorter height, where it was believed to still be stable and turn the mixed used hotel/residential project into a 400 room hotel that was to have opened by now. Now MGM/MIRAGE has confirmed that they wish to demolish the unfinished tower, though there are pending legal fights over the stability of the structure. Given the location of the tower to the rest of City Center, I believe they will have to take this one down piece by piece and not via implosion.
Speaking of implosions… you can also find a photo showing off a wing of the Tropicanna that was imploded a month ago at Vegas Today and Tomorrow.

little sneak peek into cosmo.....

The Cosmopolitan appears to be embracing it's place on The Strip and reveling in it - personalizing it and making it an integral part of it's identity. Doubling down on it even. Unlike CityCenter, where designers seemed almost ashamed to be part of the legacy of their neighborhood, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas seems to be all about providing a window to the excitement that's both inside and outside it's doors.

No, that's far from official. That's just posturing for the legal battle.

Wait, so they're adding to the Planet Hollywood tower that already stands? If so, I really like the way the building looks by itself.

No, that model is old. The company has already gone bankrupt and been sold since then.

i went to cosmo last night........AMAZING!

they did EVERYTHING differently - but did it right.

the chandelier is awesome! the 3 upper levels are so different with the lounge space, couches, pool table / foose ball, etc.....everything amazing.

the porte cochere is so bright and clean. the casino cabanas are fun and intimate.

the pool deck will beat wynns any day by the view alone.

the hotel registration is a bit understated. but maybe that is a good thing. every where it was packed. everyone in aw. i then went next door to city center and i was the only one there. the mall was depressingly dead. the casino felt even for like an airport terminal compared to cosmo. its truly said how city center failed.

the hidden pizza place is a true find. no one will come across it unless you know what to look for - the smell on the second level from some restaurant had me drooling. but not as much as the chandelier. im in love with that thing. bars everywhere - must be 4 or 5 within the chandelier.

the exposed glass cylindrical elevators that ride on one track, with the curved doors.... pinch me.

when i got my car from valet, there was bottles of water and purple cookie (cute). there are several concierge desks and even an information kiosk at front. staff EVERYWHERE and so hospitable. i must say it was great playing a slot machine 5 feet from the strip. i dont know any other casino this close to the street.

when i left i realized that something was off......then i realized that everything shown in the cosmo tv commercials where not in the property... there is no grand stair case with the bulb chandelier above. there are no hotel rooms circling said chandelier. i wonder if these are in different spots. or maybe the commercial was shot at a different place. (?)

cosmo is a bit tight squeeze, but it felt fun as if everything is accessible.

this is the only property i would want (and plan on) having a stay-cation in.

i would post pictures, but nothing would do it justice....even the professional photos dont capture its true essence.

just GO! GO! GO!

(but dont gamble - the slots are tight)

The model could be old but it is still on display at the PH Towers lobby with salesmen trying to sell units

I visited the Cosmopolitan and City Center this week.

I feel that Cosmo was superior in every way to City Center. Makes me wish that city center was a scaled up Cosmopolitan with the entire hotel straddling the strip and all those stupid roads shoved under the site.

This thread has kind of died lately.

Anyone have any photo updates of the performing arts center construction and the new city hall construction?
