Very nice update, especially on the Wilshire Grand progress.
I remember me and Illithid Dude showing so much satisfaction when we first saw the cladding for the Courtyard Marriott/Residence Inn. It really is just another building, a little on the bland side even.

Hello everyone! I have returned from my long venture through Downtown. I managed to get as much as possible in the small frame of time I had, so sit back and enjoy the update! One thing I noticed was a surprising increase in amount of cabs. Any particular reason why? Possibly E3? There were a ton of reps from E3 at the JW, so maybe that was the cause, but I loved the vibe of seeing a cab everywhere. Anyways, enjoy the update guys! I actually got a chance to go to Little Tokyo too
Ava Little Tokyo
Interesting little project. Here's my first on the project.
Jia Apartments
I couldn't get a better shot aside from the car shots, sorry guys
Broad and Parcel Tower
I was shocked at how fast the Parcel Tower is growing. The Museum actually has some noticeable changes for once.
Wilshire Grand
I guess you can say this was my best update on the Wilshire Grand. Probably due to the fact that I was able to get a few shots from inside the Wedbush tower. Had no idea it had more than 20 floors, haha.
Courtyard Marriott
The typical Courtyard update. Nothing special.
9th and Olive
Interesting progress. Nothing to note.
8th and Hope
Already on the 3rd floor! Can't wait until it towers over the Macy's parking garage XD
8th and Grand
So they're putting dirt back into the hole?
Well, this brings the update to an end. I hope you enjoyed the hard work I put into going around Downtown. If there is something you wish to see next time, feel free to ask.

Well done, Mojeda.
Interestingly, this now vacant lot of Figueroa and Wilshire makes a lovely open space such that if it were an open plaza, one could sit and enjoy the view of the surrounding buildings (minus the western view which has that Palmer "pustule."). Incidentally, I found some very different renderings (one which is dimensional) of the 888 S. Olive project. They appear to be up-dated because the information mentions a total of 303 units. It also seems to have more that 32 floors, perhaps 35 total. I guess I can't post them because I forgot where I found them on the internet, so I cannot give a URL. I'll keep looking for them.

Yeah. The area around that intersection feels so open and free right now.

The 1st pic is the one I found off of BY's site..If its the new official rendering, I think it actually looks shorter than before.. but it looks decent enough.
Oh by the way Modeja 101, how on earth did you get into the Wedbush building to take photos. Isn't there a lot of security?
I walked through the sliding doors. Went in the elevator and pressed for the highest floor. It had 22 floors but it wouldn't work so I chose 21, and bam. Once I got there I found this woman who asked what I needed to which i reply to take a few shots for a website. She directed me to an office and told me to tell the receptionist I was sent by her. I did so, and the office they had reminded me of The Office so much! But it had a fantastic view! I snapped my shots and left. No trouble at all. I'm going to go back there every time I visit

Nice job, Mojeda! As they say, easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.
Or to quote Human Traffic, He who dares, my son! He who dares!

I had no idea how much had been done on the Broadway side of Jia! I drive down Hill a lot when I get off the 101 south so I see the back of that building often. Night and day.

just a note:
around the 27th minute one of the panelists talks about how the fire department was revising the 40 year old heli-pad ordinance and how the Wilshire Grand took advantage of it to get an architectural roof and spire with the tactical heli-pad. And then since then he has seen many conceptual designs of buildings with architectural roofs (with spires?) that have come through since then. Maybe we will see in the near future (within the decade?) of some more of these designs. how cool would that be
Then the panelist next to him asks if existing buildings will maybe take advantage of this and add architectural roofs or spires to their buildings
I've always wondered how First Interstate/USBT would look if the crown was continued staggering inwards to a spire... the spire something looking like that of the AT&T spire

No matter what, there's always going to be someone who wants to put a spire on Library Tower. I'm just waiting for the day when someone dreams up a spire on WDCH, Pink's, or Sam's Hofbrau. Give it time, it'll happen.

So flimsy and plastic looking. I would've preferred a shorter design with more contextually relevant massing. Have you seen the buildings in DC? High-quality, solid-looking buildings everywhere. None of this crap. Can't wait until I'm there next week.
