Funny thing is that the line is probably pulling in more money now than it did at the much higher fare. I wouldn't be surprised if they dropped the price again now that they have essentially gotten rid of the 'premium service' plan and making more of an actual useful transportation line.

The people in Weston are the biggest winners of the recent drop in price. As a trip that use to take 1 hour or more (combinations of bus/subway) now takes less than 15 minutes. That is a dramatic time savings and I'm sure its only a matter of time before other surrounding routes use the station as a funnel depending on what the remaining capacity of the line is, otherwise they might have to make adjustments to the train and station configurations in the future.

With a cap of $129million, they were never going to get LRT. I guess time will tell whether London or K-W is getting it right. I support K-W's ION, but it is wildly ambitious for a city of this size.

If KW gets it right, then other cities, such as: Victoria, Halifax, Regina, Saskatoon and Winnipeg will look at LRT and finally start building.

Here in the city of Sudbury, an LRT that connects the downtown core to the colleges and university would go a long way to preventing gridlock.

This has to be a priority over the Scarborough line.

The Yonge Line is a zoo 20 hours a day.

Very exciting! Although still very preliminary, this is the furthest along the DRL planning process has gotten by a huge margin.

Although it's not as public facing, I believe that internally this is top priority for the TTC and City Planning. Political will is a lot easier to garner when plans are at the funding stage. Also the latest iteration of the Scarborough subway is starting to get a lot of flack - which I'm not convinced isn't an intentional move on Tory's part (although I'm not actually opposed to a subway per se).

That's great news about the DRL.

It might be a bit early to talk about engineering issues, but how do they plan to build the King-Sumach station box under the Richmond/Adelaide viaduct?

It won't be impossible.

Those new Concord towers at Bathurst and Lakeshore will have a 5 level parking garage excavated around the foundations for the Gardiner

I believe three or four of the new stations on the Eglinton LRT will be "mined" instead of cut and cover. Only the entrances will be excavated then the rest mined out and reinforced as they go. This could be a strategy for the King-Sumach station.
