Oh now come on guys, every generation looks back and complains that the kids are stupider than they were. It's all bunk. When I was in college ALL I wanted to do was have sex and drink. I went to class because I had to.. it was a necessary evil that came along with the parties and social fun of going to college. I was in Denver closing the clubs from Thursday night to Monday night driving back down to CC to show my face in class enough to not get in trouble. I was EXACTLY the kind of kid you are all bombasting in your posts and I'm pretty ok with the way I turned out.

MOST kids and young adults are stupid in at least several ways. To me that's part of the definition of being a kid. In fact if I meet a kid that's NOT being stupid that's a red flag. It means that they are going to end up regressing and messing everything up when they are 30 and realize they never took risks and f'ed up their lives in high school and college enough to mature.

Irresponsible kids doing stupid things are all fine with me. Irresponsible adults doing even more supid things are what's causing us problems right now.

Its more or less topped...they're taking a long time to get the roof on, but all of the supports and frame are on. Its snowing like crazy so I can't get a good pic.

Exactly, so why should government regulate our lives by telling us we can't have same sex marriages, multiple marriages or sex in public places? I really don't see anything wrong with any of that. It's all part of our animal nature. Plus, the government makes criminals out of chemically dependent people, thus making the chances they will recover, ever so harder. BRILLIANT!!!

I love the 1LP/alcohol thread.

People that went to CU in the early 80's tell me their hero stories all the time. Mountains of coke, parties out to the curbs, people jumping off buildings, knuckleheads collapsing the roofs of their apartment complex by trying to build a beach on the roof (with actual sand).

When I went there in the late 90's, we had to soundproof our houses and black out the windows so the cops wouldn't know there were parties inside. The frats were *technically* dry. I venture to say we way more responsible and well-behaved than the animals who came before us. Not that we had a choice, we couldn't sneeze without summoning the police.

Worker Impaled By Falling Rebar
Victim Expected To Survive Chest Injury

DENVER -- A 32-year-old elevator employee was taken to the hospital in serious condition Tuesday after being impaled by a 30-inch long piece of rebar, according to a Denver Fire Department spokesperson.

7NEWS confirmed the worker, who received a chest injury, is employed by Otis Elevator Co.

The accident happened at a residential high-rise currently under construction near 20th Avenue and Lincoln Street in Denver.

The man was working at the bottom of an elevator shaft when another employee apparently kicked the metal rebar into the shaft from 200 feet above, according to Phil Champagne from the Denver Fire Department.

The incident remains under investigation, according to officials with Swinerton Builders.

Operations Manager Dave Wermerskirchen told 7NEWS the employee underwent surgery and is expected to make a full recovery.

Wermerskirchen said all safeguards were in place when the accident happened, including safety rails and toe boards .

“It’s a bit of a mystery to us,” Wermkerskirchen said.

A spokeswoman for Otis Elevator said the employee’s name would not be released.

Privacy laws prevent hospitals from providing patient conditions without a name so the man's condition could not be determined.

The accident happened at 2001 Lincoln around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. The 32-story building, known as One Lincoln Park, is a condominium high-rise expected to open later this year.

No one else was injured and the accident did not halt construction. Around 200 employees are on site at any given time, according to Wermerskirchen.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration will investigate the workplace accident.

Oh, I meant it... The sarcasm was the fact that I was speaking about this on a thread for One Lincoln Park. I wasn't being serious, as far as like an activist movement. Maybe that doesn't make since?

yeah it sucks to get impaled.. but what's even worse than being impaled is being killed by being impaled. so he's kinda fortunate.

my dad just told me about this this morning. works at the same company as my dad...i guess a piece of rebar fell down the elevator shaft and impaled him. the guy is still in ICU in critical condition. very very tragic indeed.
