We know this story is old hopefully we will hear something soon , if any one could build a new arena it’s the Pats ownership , they have a multi billion dollar company , A new facility could change the face of downtown along with there new downtown head office , well here’s hoping

Shaw's radio-silence on this is deafening. She is the first to make a noise at council but has nothing to say here? Come on.

A facility that houses some at-risk individuals safely with access to important services is badly needed in this city. Once again, NIMBY residents are the loudest of them all. People are acting like this is a city-funded crack-den.

The worst thing for the neighbourhood is when people need services and can`t get them. In general, NIMBY is a big obstacle to infill development and one of the reasons why greenfield building is more popular,

This is surprising to me. I am happy to see the growth, but it is an unexpected number. Where have the people come from?

Also where did you get these numbers? They aren't released until Feb 9th.

The 263k figure is a 2020 estimate from Stats Canada. I expect the 2021 census data to be higher than that.

True but there is still some internal migration from rural/smaller communities to Regina. I suspect this is much less than 20 or 30 years ago. SK birth rate is much higher than the national average due to a younger population and high numbers of Indigenous persons.

Great news on a side note Saskatoon’s metropolitan area is twice the size and landmass than Regina’s so that makes up some of the population

It also doesn't hurt that we have flat land with few geographic inhibitors in all directions. There are no hills, valleys, rocks or water to work around.

And when we do have land that shouldn't be built on (marsh, etc) we build on it anyways!

Saskatoon probably has an extra 70,000 people within 10 km of their downtown, so it's not like it's some StatCan conspiracy.

They're legitimately a bigger city and metro. There's nothing wrong with acknowledging the truth.

I keep noticing that regardless of the number of posts I submit, my total number of posts has not changed at all since at least May 2021 (I can't go further back in my history). Is this happening to everyone, or just me?
