i often both agree and disagree with kamin's articles, but i usually find them informative and thought-provoking, even when i think his conclusions are off.
to call him the "sorriest excuse for an architecture critic" seems like ridiculous hyperbole to me.
the pulitzer, of course, was not based upon his ability to critique architecture, but rather a much deserved win on writing about racial disparities in our city...
and, there is a reason supertalls tend to not have balconies... how many of you have spent significant time on a balcony over, let's say, 500' above grade?
All I know is that I have yet to hear someone complain about visiting the observation deck of the empire state building.

We all offer our praise and criticizms where we feel is needed.
For example, while I like the design, imagine if a redesign had exposed elevators running along the sides of the tower in a dynamic and exciting way with LED lighting for night-glow effects.
