^but in the renders it wasn't like this. by changing the ventilation I mean that they might paint some white stripes which doesn't cost millions of dollars. I don't remember the project where the developers changed the glass to some other colour. in several other projects around the world the developers or the company that owns the building make some changes to the building before or after it completes. I'm not the only person who has noticed this, many other people might have noticed that the ventilation thing clashes with the rest of the building. don't you think that?

Renderings are just marketing tools, not design specs. They should always be taken with a grain of salt. The problem is that you can't really paint the vents, as they're not a solid surface but grills. You'd probably have to change the ventilation cladding all together. Even though the cost of the change itself might not be huge, any delays in completing the building mean delay in revenue and paying off their financiers, which can be costly.

Budgets are extremely tight for the developer building the tower and the condo plan that will own it. There's little room for a frivilous thing like making the ventilation grills more pleasing for skyscraper nuts visiting the islands.

My God, just saw some recent pics of Aura, that crown was executed extremely well. Much better than I expected!

Now it's off to obsessively clicking refresh on the 1 Bloor thread for updates That thing's really climbed since I last saw it in April!

Sad, the big boy is off the list soon. Good news our building count over 200 meters goes up.

Is that above ground parking lot where Brookfield 2 will go?

Absolutely. Rumour has it, it's going to start sooner than expected. I could see that too, as the city currently has a office space crunch, even with all the new stuff UC. Over 2/3 of it is leased out already.

Hopefully demand will dictate that it be taller than Brookfield 1.

We're hoping that phase 2 will be cancelled and reproposed as a different design and taller height. It's pretty much as close to the centre of the CBD as possible, so it deserves to be a signature.

90% of the time I'm not a fan of twins so that would be a good outcome.

Yeah, most of us here hate them too, and for good reason. Calgary is basically the twin city. So many of our most prominent buildings are twins (EAP, Bankers Hall, Western Canadian Place, Suncor) and we have two prominent identical twins UC, the Guardians, at nearly 150 meters.
