Another cold night coming! They are predicting -5, but they always miss at the airport. I expect it will be closer to -8. I wonder if we will see any sustained warm up, or if there is just too much snow on the ground for it to get back to seasonal for an extended period.

So far we have had something like 50 days since December 7th with lows below 0

get ready for more snow!

We had snow in March 2010 after the olympics but in time for the paraolympics didn't we?

The cherry blossoms at Bute and Nelson in the West End were also starting to come out when I took this pic a week ago.

No -- looks like the "every-14-month" cluster predicted by earthquake scientists was right on schedule, though.

Ugh, somebody needs to get that ivy of that tree before it kills it. So invasive.

Still snowing in Metrotown after some 15cm has fell so far. It's back to winter mode - again.

Mount Seymour has received 165cm of snow in the past seven days. Their total snowfall this season is already 1045cm. This winter might be setting many records.

I can only assume the conditions in Whistler are epic right now.

This is insane.....

Again the two week forecast for Vancouver shows nothing but 4 to 6 degree below seasonal temps with a continued mix of rain and snow.

Would not be surprised if this becomes the worst March ever. Also, seeing how the last 3 months was the coldest 3 month stretch in the Pacific North West since 1985, adding a 4th month to it may set us all the way back to the 1960s or further for coldest stretch of weather. Again, not the most extreme (2008 still had more extreme conditions) but just persistent cool.

Looks like the snowy and cold weather will continue for the next 3 days. While we all want the snow and rain to go away, skiers and kids are happy.

Okay, here's my snow report from Sunday. The first two pics are from downtown and the last two pics are from North Vancouver, near Marine Drive.

I live in north Surrey and I had to be at Riverview hospital this morning at 7 for a show. The roads are crap but I take my time. Get on the 1 at 152 nd and take the Lougheed/United Blvd collector lane exit. Get to the bottom of the bridge and Cape Horn is a mess. The Lougheed/United exit is blocked off which is the one I wanted to take to get to Riverview. Notice the Lougheed west exit to Burnaby is open so
I figure I'll take that and turn around somewhere. As I'm taking that i notice the truck only Fawcett Road exit is open. Score, just took that turned left on United and made
My way to Riverview that way. Felt bad for the other people just stuck
there but they could've figured it out.

Yeah the entire month of March and into early April is forecast to remain well below seasonal around 4-6 degrees for highs. Definitely looks like it will be one of the coldest March's on record, and winters as whole.

Any forecast telling you that is guessing, so I wouldn't put any stock into it. But it wouldn't surprise me if it happened. When you think about it, our nasty weather this year started October 1st (October and November had a total of what, 5 non-rainy days out of the combined 60+?), and it has carried through early March, changing in December to a Maritime like mix of snow, rain, then below zero, followed by snow, rain and below zero, and so one. That's bad. I can't imagine this being my first year in this city, if it was I would be hightailing it out of here.

This is the article that said it would continue into early April:

http://www.news1130.com/2017/02/28/whats-store-bcs-spring-forecast/

Over the past couple days the forecast has changed to show a warming pattern though. As of last weekend it was showing snow and 4 degrees for the foreseeable future.

Exact temps get murky a few days out in a forecast, but these days general trends (cooler / warmer / near normal) are pretty accurate 10 or so days out.
