Cool model at the sales office:

"The sales office remains “by appointment only.” And our favorite feature within said office, the scale model which lights up each individual unit to show its exact location in the building (along with virtual views and finishes projected overhead) as you navigate the development via a touch screen display."

That picture of the model provides me with my first true understanding of what the crown will look like. I like it from this angle - it's almost as if a smaller tower is working its way up the side of the building - but from a distance, the building may look like it has cat ears? (I'm assuming there is a pointy crown on the other side of the model as well.) At least it will be distinct in SF's flat-top skyline!

i think this building may only have one "ear"

tho i could be wrong
one i think would look better than 2

Looks like two peaks to me:

They can be seen in this image and in others posted on the last page of the thread.

whoops, not the first time im wrong

i wonder along with botoxic about the 'ear effect'
tho it seems that the slope might be subtle enough so that it doesnt look like ears, and the cap on the core seems to help

looks like it might be fun to slide around up there

Remarkable how it stands out in that photo.

They appear to have removed the concrete pumper, so its back to buckets:

So fantastic to see skeletons on the horizon. I know this makes me sound like a baby, but it's the first time I've seen the City in this light...

^^^It is nice but I remember the last time: In the 1980s I commuted to work in Oakland and watched them build several downtown towers from the Bay Bridge and western approaches. The one I remember best was the Citicorp Center.

The glass is close to the 3/4 mark by my estimation:

That makes two of us. 345 California was finished a year before I was born, but I'd imagine it might have been something like what I'm seeing for the first time in San Francisco.

Nice shot p.g. Thats one of my favorite vantage points because it makes the tower look razor-thin

I saw this morning and at lunch that they have started putting up the glass on the low rise.

I like how it's a two story solid wall of clear glass. I'm interested to see how they'll transition to what I assume will be blue glass matching the tower on the higher floors.

I also like how the blue glass almost matches the blue sky.

That's really incredible to think about since some of us wittnessed generations of highrise construction before that "later" building! My first thrill was watching the completion of the Pyramid. I was 19 when it was finished.

Here are a few pictures from this afternoon. As I mentioned, they started putting the glass on the low rise. And it is amazing how much this building changes depending on the light and the time of day.

Wow. Watching the pyramid rise must have been something. I bet for some of us skyscraper lovers, it must have been like watching the moon landing
