The Bus Tunnel allows buses to bypass Downtown streets - there were a number of routes that used the Tunnel (the buses were gas/electric hybrids that used gas on the roads and electric power underground) and they stopped at five stations Downtown (Convention Center, Westlake, University, Pioneer Square, and International District). It was also built to handle light rail.

The Tunnel has been closed to be retrofitted for the light rail - they are changing the rails (the initial ones weren't appropriate for the current light rail design) and they are creating a stub tunnel under Pine Street so the light rail can turn around. When it reopens in September of this year the buses will be using it and they will be joined by the light rail starting in 2009. The light rail will use all of the Tunnel stations except Convention Center - I think busses will still use all of them.

Is there still construction going on at the Cosmopolitan? I walked by there and it looked completed (I could see interior furinishing about 1/2 up the tower).

I hear ya - feels the same to me, and still nearly 2 years to go until move in.

As for the Cosmopolitan, people have definitely moved in. Saw cars coming out of the parking, people using keycards to enter the front door, and lots of lamps and shades in the windows. Although I still hate the base of it, overall the building turned out a lot better than it looked all wrapped in blue like it was for so many months. The additional development on the block will hopefully help hide that hideous base.

I AGREE!! The Base is lacking!!
It is much better that I thought it would be but still, its like a concrete block with a nice tower on top. But your probably right, as the area builds up we will not be able to see much of the back side.

Seattle needs palm trees just like the eastside.

The Columbia Tower was supposed to be 1000ft even but Sea-Tac got 1ft lopped off each floor.

The Safeco Field picture is outstanding, nice work.
hahaha, well put. However, seattle already has palm trees

I like the idea of a twisted tower. It would be very different for Seattle.
Not a new concept, however, it would be great to have one! I hope they do build it.

no offense, but that's actually seattle.

a little boxy but it's not bad. I agree however that they could do better than that.

Thanks for the updates, Vashon. Are there any plans to rub that hideous, white, garage-looking thing next to Mosler out of existance?

It looks like they did paint the seattle aquarium entirely in green! It looks great now! You can see it in the 1521 construction webcam here:
