It's one thing to be aggressive in trying to keep the French culture and language alive – but I'm not sure how empty crumbling buildings and vacant lots everywhere are doing that at all.

That’s basically it exactly. Soooo much potential for this neighbourhood, and I’m not talking about making it something it’s not. Development *is* the way to preserve francophone/Métis culture here. What better ambassador to a culture being relevant than an entire neighbourhood that everyone wants to visit, play in, live in, and spend money on?
