As I first suggested in this Sept. 9 Inquirer story, FMC Corp. has agreed to move its headquarters from 1745 Market St. in Center City to 30th and Walnut Sts., the new tower that Brandywine Realty Trust has been trying to build in University City for the past 5 years. The FMC Tower will rise 47 stories and include 575,000 sq ft of offices, 10,000 sq ft of retail, and 260 apartments. FMC will move 546 workers by June 2016, said spokesman Jim Fitzwater.

FMC will lease 253,000 sq ft for 16 years, the University of Pennsylvania will rent another 100,000 sq ft for 20 years. Brandywine arranged state and city tax breaks for the site back in 2008, before a previous tenant agreement fell through.

Philadelphia beat competing sites in New Jersey and Delaware to keep the headquarters.

This is pretty awesome. I read the article and made the mistake of reading the comments, man there are some poopy pants people in this city, already complaining about parking.

I try and rarely read comment sections as most people who post on them have to consciously remember to breath, but I must admit that the people who comment on Philly.com are especially dull. Either way nice to see that the third tower will be moving forward.

The Schuylkill is going to look pretty cool right around that bend. All lit up, with that new walk/bike path and three towers lining it. Add in One Riverside and things will be shaping up.

This is absolutely fantastic

This will be the 6th tallest building in the city and by far the tallest in University City.

Looks like The Evo is officially 430 feet tall. FMC Tower at Cira Centre South is 656 feet tall.

That is amazing news. Once all three Cira towers are up, the views from the Schuylkill Banks will be truly iconic. Congratulations, Philadelphia!

I am so glad to see the other half of this project and something rendered in, finally. The parking garage was totally overwhelming the smaller building in previous renderings, but this really balances (hides) the complex well from the right angles.

You know, I went back and looked at the image south wih the Original Cira in the foreground. Maybe another tower on the other side of that Parking garage if they ever do anything with the rail yard

All in all I like the images though - this will be a dramatic change, obviously

I love seeing the continued progress of seeing the river run through the "city" instead of around. Having the river surrounded by high-rises is a great site, esp when you take advantage of the trails and soon to be boardwalk. Its going to be fascinating and something that will set the trail apart from many others in other cities.
