They can squawk, but they have already lost.

Heaven forbid we disturb the single family homes between a state highway and some train tracks.

It really is a great spot for dense housing, which will always be priced a bit lower than competition due to this proximity to the rr.

Put a light at Thornton and Oltorf, or go around and take Kinney to Lamar. Turning L without a protected light on any major street in Austin (Lamar, Burnet, Oltorf, etc) is very dangerous, and easily avoidable.

put a light on thornton and the eastbound traffic line will wraparound lamar and go well south of kinney. increasing the length of nb lamar traffic being reduced to one lane even more than now

cars going westbound on oltorf getting hit by a train will be a regular incident. not even sure you could legally put a light there?

always feel terrible for the people i see waiting in their cars on thornton

who will ever think of the CARS?!?! I couldn't imagine not owning a car in this area, where high quality transit is...

a 5 minute walk away!

and not even double that to get to the nearest 803 stop....

but it's the "wrong zoning for the area"

So wait, now we can't build desperately needed housing because sometimes homeless people attack people near transit?

guess we'll just raise the homeless population through restrictive zoning and onerous code requirements, furthering the lack of funding for the city by collecting less taxes, and continuing the inadequate investment in our infrastructure and public services that could go a long way towards solving the problem

Obviously, public safety is an issue, on transit and across many parts of our city (and around the US). That doesn't mean we should just shut everything down and make everyone commute in a 1-ton death box. It's just not feasible, and it's a shitty way of trying to make our city a better place.

I should also say - I am sorry that that happened to you. I am a frequent user of transit and I have experienced similar, though not often.

The new HEB is SO NICE

The parking garage is kinda... meh, especially if you go to the 2nd floor. I'll definitely make more trips and explore the 3rd floor garage and the view. Didn't make it today because it was POURING in the morning

The wood used to be more yellow looking. I'm not sure how well protected it was but it looks terrible now. I would assume they would need to replace most of it.
