Right now I just feel relief that this finally seems to be going forward. 10 storeys isn't so bad (isn't that about the same height as the Confederation building on Main?), and having overpass access is just what the convention center needs. Hopefully we'll see a new render and it doesn't look so bad.

great news....get those NHL players out of that 1968 glorified motel, so they stop trashing Winnipeg.
Is it? This looks like a major downgrade from what was proposed originally...and for that matter, it looks like a major downgrade from the revised concept of one tower that we heard about a few years back.

Still a major improvement over a hotel built in 1968. From the outside, the Delta looks more like a Soviet apartment building than a hotel.
Why are people acting like the hotel is going to be 3-Star garbage?
Be angry about the delays. Be angry about the closed street for 6 years. But not sure how you can be angry about the unknown design, aesthetic, and quality of the final product.
I just hope once they're done they completely re-pave Carleton St. because driving down that street feels like you're on a back alley in the West-End.
I'm guessing the city has been waiting for the construction work to be completed before re-paving. If it had been re-paved during the Sutton Place "lull" and then had to be re-paved again , people would howl.

To be fair, we already howl when the city does an entire stretch with perfect concrete/asphalt, only for hydro to go back in a year later and change a bunch of pipes, and do a hack-job of patching it back

Hopefully the Hyatt on Broadway will appease the NHL players as well.
New Hyatt could be viable for some players. I'm just glad they're finally completing the hotel, no matter what form it takes. It's been such a drag on street life.
