I'm thinking the change to the look of its Colour is what's having more of a impact. The design does seem more subtle but I can't tell if it's just the drawing or that much changed on it.

Nerv: the design changes are subtle, but major improvements and yes, thankfully they changed the color.

What are some of the major improvements?

The lack of the orange mullet and better integration of the crown. The building now looks a lot less messy.

Here is a better render of the crown.

Also here are some more construction photos from downtown.
9th and Broadway:

I.D.E.A. 1 site. The site is fenced off, but no construction yet.

Some bonus pics of downtown.

Are we sure that there are design changes to Ballpark Village or is this just a more flattering rendering?

Wow, 9th and Broadway is going to do a lot for that part of Broadway. It will help bridge the gap between the Chase building, and Smart Corner.

Here is a rendering.

Here is the downtown partnership plan. Among other things, it mentions reductions in parking requirements, a supposed sticking point for many developments.

Cool

I'm not sure of the current order of likely construction starts in downtown but I was thinking (hoping) that the next two might be the new Sempra and IDEA buildings. I thought both projects might break ground by years end.

I know it's still probably nowhere set in stone yet but what was the "expected" start time of construction on the ballpark village tower? Also if it's 411 feet what was the previous announced height of the building?

It's not looking that bad now and I do like what I saw before of its ground level buildings for retail. Better than what's there now and should add to the expanding ballpark surrounding areas.

Downtown has slowing started to get interesting again.

Now if only they could get more "must see" retail like a NY has...

Talking

Yeah, 9th and broadway will be a welcomed addition there too.

For anyone interested in following its "rise" here's a webcam link:

Nerv: Sempra has already broken ground and work is underway. I'll try to take a picture of it today. Also the original height of Ballpark Village was 402 ft so it had a 9 ft boost.

Maybe it's just me, or just the perspective from this angle, but it looks pretty dang tall! A welcome addition in my eyes, something different for our city.

Yes, for highrises, but 15th and Market is also under construction which is 6 stories i believe. They are working on the 4th floor now.
