Some breaking news... SkyTower proposed to be taller and Phase 3 is now also a super-tall:

Pinnacle One Yonge | 346.35m | 105s | Pinnacle | Hariri Pontarini l u/c

A new application proposes to increase the heights of both SkyTower (from 95 storeys to 105 storeys) and the Future Phase 3 (from 80 storeys to 92 storeys) which would now become another super-tall:

1. SkyTower u/c: height to the top of the architectural parapet (per CTBUH) is 346.35 metres (taller than The One)

2. Phase 3 (pre-construction): height to the top of the architectural parapet (per CTBUH) is 306 metres.

Phase 3 @ 306 metres is on the left below.

Over 100 storeys would be cool. There's not many of those around.

CTBUH is another skyscraper database heavily based on Emporis data. This has been officially submitted for rezoning to the city.

Microsoft’s new offices in Phase 1, filled with Canadiana and geography design references plus art installations from Canadian artists… and some cutting-edge tech of course ;-). Originally planned to host 500 new employees, the final tally is 2,500 folks will call this home.

Even if Sam gets his approval for the 338.3 metre height here... Pinnacle just checked with a proposed new height for SkyTower (u/c) @ 346.35 metres and 105 storeys.

It's your move Sam (check-mate?).

Hey somebody at UT figured out what the abstract “Sugar” Wharf balcony pattern references… sugar crystals (smart deduction):

Lots more forming up and getting closer to another big pour on the mechanical levels.

Benito

Benito

A peek inside the elevator core (still hard to believe there could be nearly 80 more floors of this core… floating above the (core-less) Apple Store at grade).

Benito

Throwback: the massive super-columns and angled steel above grade that have to support the tower (and its residential elevator core) above.

I was asked in the Super-tall thread what the odds were of SkyTower getting its extra 10 storeys and I replied that I think this height increase will be green-lit because it doesn't face any of the usual challenges that happen in the built up core... shadows on parks/schools, same wind conditions etc.

And the entire eastern waterfront along Queens Quay from Yonge to the east is under construction afterall so if Menkes complains about 10 more storeys here impacting their 299 metre and 290 metre towers (in site-prep and demo phase) right next door to Pinnacle One Yonge... I think they'd be laughed out of the room .

Hey, maybe Menkes will pitch their 299 metre tower at a taller height too (299 metres is of course a wannabe super-tall annoyance to 'scraper geeks like moi ;-).

Perhaps a more interesting question is: how will Sam Mizrahi respond to this if he gets his height increase for The One @ 338.3 metres at long last... only to fall short again!

Bet he's shopping for a spire as I write this .

Couple of renderings I’ve haven’t noticed before from HPA, including a view to the west of the office/hotel component and the residential podiums (3 towers). Also some interior atrium shots that look more recent.

I haven't seen this render. At least I don't recall seeing it. The updated design (even though apparently it's old) makes sense now. urbantoronto.ca

The whole complex is giving me a San Fran vibe.

Centre is “Prestige” - Phase 1 of Pinnacle One Yonge Street, with SkyTower’s podium rising on the left and demoliton/site prep underway for Menkes 3 tower (up to 299 metres) Sugar Wharf Phase 2, just to the right of centre.

Phase 2 core rising in front of the park/deck over the rail corridor that will join it to Phase 1.

Easily the best new curtain-wall seen in decades in the city (sorry CIBC Square… you’re great too).

“Prestige” Phase 1 of Pinnacle One Yonge (in the centre) won’t be lonely for long as SkyTower will rise just to its right (perhaps as much as 105 storeys ;-).

This view to the south will also change dramatically when CIBC Square 2 rises right in front of CIBC Square Phase 1 (turned 90 degrees to an east west orientation).

Over on UT most seem to believe the height increase for One Yonge will be approved. Given its location shadowing isn't an issue. So barring some unforeseen issue, the 344.5m height will likely go ahead.

Always laugh when the developer docs say one thing (346.35 metres for example ;-) and then UrbanToronto finds a slightly different height from (one of?) an elevation drawing (344.5m).

Not sure if this is a case like Concord Sky* where there's 2 different heights on 2 different elevation drawings as Yonge is pretty flat here... mysterious why the proponent can't read their own SkyTower architectural elevation drawings though lol.

*Concord Sky was always listed as 298.99 metres but apparently the south(?) elevation drawing is super-tall 300.8 metres or something like that (due to the site being on the Yonge Street "hill"). 300.8 metres is in the ssp diagram page ;-).

The SSP database had 344.6 on day one. Different firms. different figures. (Hariri Pontarini and Bousfield)

You know full well that I was going to check to see where planning measured Concord Sky and hopefully use the pancake to our advantage. The vintage whining over the multiple 299 metre towers was just sad. It's a measured and calculated from the elevation drawings. It's not actually posted in the drawings.

Sugar Wharf is flat as a pancake. It is lake fill afterall.

SkyTower will rise just left of Phase 1 (right of centre in the photo). The gap between One Yonge and the 2 towers of Sugar Wharf Phase 1 (right of centre) will be filled one day by the 3 towers of Sugar Wharf Phase 2
(now in demolition-retention/site prep @ 299 metres).
