Since it's now 2022, it's almost certain the worker deaths has exceeded 7,000.

It's been well documented that PetroStates such as UAE, Qatar, and others subjugate South Asian workers, treat them as slave labour, give them unimaginably horrible working
and living conditions for low wages, and confiscate passports so they can't leave the country until their contract for construction projects is finished.
One of the many reasons megaprojects such as these proposed by the Saudis are a disaster. Useless vanity projects for Sheiks with fragile egos.
