What's the capacity of the UPX relative to the subways?

Thought it would be something like that. Would a Yonge Street streetcar have more of an impact?

Closer to 700 but yeah! Super low. One of the problems is the service looks like it is failing even more than it is because the tracks which it does not require constant access to and can be used for future GO RER is amortized to the UPX budget right now (I am relatively sure). I hope the cable-car at the airport is eventually upgraded to service the new GO RER station/HSR at Woodbine and then UPX can be retired after 15 or so years of service.

Also, maybe could form a partnership with WestJet and or Air Canada to book a 'flight' from UPX stations, so your ticket and online checkin includes the UPX fare.

Replacing the scarborough RT with a line 2 subway extension is a massive waste of money.

Why not build new RT track instead?

I have a question regarding the RER... Isn't there any freight rail traffic in Toronto? Because that's the biggest problem in Montreal regarding commuter rail.

Metrolinx has been quietly purchasing the rail corridors from CN/CP. Most of what is to become the RER electrified network is on Metrolinx-owned trackage. Freight has to take a back seat.

Future state, the freight bypass in the north will be built, and that should eliminate the need for CN/CP trains to go into 'central' GTA.

Thank you.

On another note, station design contract has been awarded to AECOM for the Pie-IX Boulevard BRT today. Construction will start in 2018 with a completion date in 2022 this project is expected to carry 70,000 users a day, contrarily to 40,000 as of today.

Some components of the project:
- 11km of dedicated ROW lanes
- 17 stations (15 in Montreal, 2 in Laval)
- A 700-space park-and-ride lot in Laval
- One connection with Pie-IX Metro Station (Green Line) and one commuter rail station (Montreal-North Station). Possibility of connexion with a future station at Jean-Talon Street/Pie-IX Blvd if the Blue line is extended towards Anjou

First time I hear they're only planning to build two stations in Laval. Sounds like the expensive A-440 station has quietly been removed from the project. That is seriously great news for tax payers!

I assume you mean the autoroute shields that look like Interstate shields when you glance at them quickly?

It is true that they do look alike.

Note that the red-white-blue on them is not there with the American red, white and blue in mind. It's not hard to guess where the three colours come from.

Also the autoroute shield's top red section has a variant of the European motorway symbol with the two carriageways and an overpass above them.

One day I'd like to see the Pie IX BRT get extended to Rene - Levesque, where a new line could then start and run all the way to Atwater.

I presume that with the blue line extention and the BRT, we're gonna see the already clogged orange and green lines even more congested.

Actually, the BRT is gonna act as a relief for the orange line, which needs it the most.

With the extra MR73 trains that will be transferred from the orange line as part of the new metro trains order, the green line will be able to handle the extra demand between Pie-IX and Berri-UQAM

So, no matter what happens, in the next few years the frequency is bound to improve on all three main metro lines, as well as on the Pie-IX corridor.
