Love it! But never going to happen in that location. Wish they would use an area of the metro that is not locked into view cones.

Yeah, those were posted a while back and someone asked Concord and Concord stated that they were not actual proposals.
That said, the adjacent Aquilini tower is similarly organic - so maybe Concord will lean towards a non-cookie cutter design in NEFC (?).

The tower is west of the alley on that block (likely the corner of Howe and Beach), so it isn't part of the Under The Bridge area plan.

The Under The Bridge area plan encompasses the eastern half of that same block that is under the Howe viaduct (from the alley to Granville) and also the western half of the block under the Seymour Viaduct (from Granville to the alley).

Wow. 21 Doors 90% sold out in first week:
http://www.thesalientgroup.com/news/

All the activity going on in the building has certainly moved a lot of the other "activity" away from the immediate area. Could be a nice street one day...

Not sure if there's a thread for this one, but this is the site of Maxine's Hideaway in the west end, with the heritage facade precariously being propped up. No major excavation has taken place yet but I'm sure it's not too far off now:

It seems so "flat" - tough to capture the character of a house with just a flat facade.

1075 Burnaby

I was walking past here the other day and noticed that the building is empty with broken/boarded up windows and all the trees on the site has that orange construction fencing around them.

The building is a somewhat typical 3 story 60's walkup on the North/east corner of thurlow and Burnaby

Anyone know anything about it?

The building will be undergoing renovations to increase the number of rental units.

I also noticed that this building (Dunsmuir & Homer, the one that narrows the Dunsmuir street RoW) was sold - is it going to be redeveloped? Pic by me last week.

Oh god I hope so.

Right now Dunsmuir and Pender east of Homer is the dreariest most depressing part of downtown. I blame:
A) the god-awful BC Hydro building,
B) the ass end of the Canada post building, and
C) the Dunsmuir house residences.

Speaking of Dunsmuir, is that sketchy building on the corner at Richards still there? The one with Suzette's Cafe (red awning) and some ESL school on top? I sure hope the wrecking ball pays it a visit soon.

Yes it is. Also the scuzzy hostel across the street. Those two sites would make office tower locations.

Don't think the site across the street won't be going anywhere for a while yet. My understanding is Holborn has an arrangment with the city to use it to provide lowincome housing. I imagine we'd see Little Mountain built before anything happens to that building.
