Sometimes I look at One Bloor East and try to fathom how The One is going to be even taller. Crazy stuff. Making good progress now.

Substantially taller. It'll tower over 1BE by almost 300 ft.

Wow. I swear this project has changed from “watching grass grow” to a rocket ship. By 5 pm today they were done pouring the elevator core work, and were pouring the walls and super-columns!

I’ll say it again… who are these guys??

Sugar Wharf Condominiums (Phase 1) | 231m | 70s | Menkes | a—A l u/c

Looking north-west: waterfront aerial. As Bowie would say “Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes” (…are coming fast). Sugar Wharf Phase 1 is rising in the centre.

Recent activity suggests the much bigger and taller Phase 2 may getting closer to site prep/demolition.

The podium’s charcoal brick precast is a bit oppressive, but I’ll confess the materials and build quality is better than I expected.

So does this count for Concord Metrotown (230.1m) to be on this list now?

Of course. Will the first page be updated to reflect that? I don't think so.

I have 38 potential towers under construction throughout Burnaby right now. The database has 18. There are 11 under construction for Surrey in the database. I have 9 ready to add. It will take time to get BC back to respectability.

Concord Sky | 298.99m | 85s | Concord Adex | a—A l excavation

Looks like two thirds of the site is completely excavated (with a large ramp of dirt in the middle), and a site-wide, elevated concrete construction staging platform is done. Condo, office, rental, residential and retail.

Though it's a piddly metre short of a super-tall ... it's Concord so I'm in no big hurry to see the results.

M1 & 2 both topped out @ 198 metres (60 storeys) and M3 (77 storeys /260.29 metres) now above grade with M4 excavating in front.

UrbanToronto was off-line yesterday, but The One wasn’t. They poured the next floor slab and super-columns.

Given the long weekend holiday, this is about a 12 day turnaround between floor slabs (15th level now I think)… after seemingly in limbo for months and stuck at level 6 or 7, it’s rockin’ now.

Think the core may have topped out though there will be more steel work to create the curvy, angled crown above it.

mburrrrr

There will be an amazing green amenity space with panoramic views from the crown. Some renders not posted before from AS+GG sans the TD logos ;-)

Hard to resist posting more pics… this is already one of the best-looking new builds in decades.

For a skyscraper website... no-one talks about skyscrapers. Here's half a dozen of the 10 tallest u/c in the country:

Pinnacle One Yonge | 312.5m | 95s | Pinnacle | Hariri Pontarini l u/c

Podium rising (super long way to go ;-).

Man, this thread makes me jealous of Toronto. Not jealous of it's insane urban sprawl, though.

Perhaps you're thinking of the occasional Mississauga post... because 99% of the project updates are from Bloor south to the lake (between 2 super-talls).

Aka downtown. The opposite of sprawl.

Yeah, odd thing to bring up in any thread let alone this thread. Sprawl is sprawl. There is no place without it.

The densities being built along and north of Taunton in the east or Dundas in the west is insane. It's still sprawlly suburbia in the sense of fractured inward focused development.

The sprawl issue will be greatly improved by GO electrification and related frequency increases as well. The sprawl will still exist, but the added speed and frequency will give a lot more places to focus density and it'll reduce the negative effects that sprawl has on the metro area. The people living in outer areas will have improved quality of life due to having more mobility options and can come into town more easily without clogging the city and straining the infrastructure improving things in the city as well.
