there was a thread somewhere just recently (city discussions i think) where this topic camp up - urban drive-thrus in parking garages.

bad urbanism, but better than a standard suburban drive through, i suppose. (i wouldn't want to be *in* a parking garage with a bunch of cars idling in a line for long, though)

Right, such an odd setup, kind of dystopian.

I would probably frequent the drive thru occasionally despite the tackiness of it all.

435 feet? That would be a dramatic tower for that part of the city. They must plan doing a mix of office and residential/hotel. Or perhaps they've signed a major office tenant. In either case, do it!!!

West of Midtown, Star Metals' towering expansion moves forward

The Allen Morris Company filed development plans with the City of Atlanta just before the July 4th holiday that indicate a potential strategy change for the final phases of Star Metals’ construction.

The Florida-based real estate firm is seeking a variance to increase the allowable height from 225 to 435 feet for one of three buildings planned across what’s considered Star Metals' phases four, five, and six, situated where Howell Mill Road meets 11th Street.

I drove through West midtown yesterday, and briefly saw that Stella was looking quite tall. looked to be around 12-14 floors. Could be taller, but it was just a glimpse and i couldn't stop for a picture.

Would love to see a solid set of update pics on it if anyone's ever on that side of town for a while.
