Downtown's newest addition doesn't look quite as bad as I originally thought but I still believe it's better suited for someplace like Myrtle Beach or Dollywood. Apparently I'm in the minority because both times I was there, it was a beehive of activity. If it stays, I hope they consider adding some sort of landscaping at the base...it looks every bit like a ferris wheel plunked down in a parking lot.

According to the Atlanta Business Chronicle, this proposal in at Piedmont and Cheshire Bridge may finally be moving forward. A new apartment developer, Mill Creek Residential, has the site under contract and should close soon.

I live on Longleaf Drive right around the corner. I will walk my dogs over there today and do some investigating.

The ABJ today detailed several planned projects in this area. Some new ones as well. I am really excited to see this area of town clean up. Hopefully with this new stimulus of projects, Piedmont Rd can get a similar treatment Peachtree Street received.

Also in this week's Business Chronicle...

Wood Partners is developing the next Midtown apartment project "next to the Peachtree Place building". The blurb also mentions that it will be a TOD next to the Marta Station and the plan is for 400 units that could be in two buildings.

Sounds like it could possibly be a version of Metropolis or their "Glass House" project in Denver.

We went by Phipps the other day and noticed a big hole in the ground there. Is that this?

I would assume that is the site in question since its the says the project is "next to" both Ten Peachtree Place and the Marta Station. It was only a four sentence note about the project so we will have to wait to learn more details on it. It would be a fantastic surprise if that dead lot, in an otherwise very lively part of Midtown got developed.

It does seem huge but from satellite it appears to be similar in size to the plaza Midtown block. It's definitely larger but not by that much.

This along with 930 Spring street could have this area jumping with construction, again assuming this is the site.

Well, for a 3/3 with a rooftop deck in a nice area doesn't sound too out of line.

arjay57, I wonder if this is the development that is supposed to front the new twin to Park Avenue that we were talking about recently? It seems as if they might be across the street, but hard to tell.

I think these townhouses are across the street from the Park Avenue towers and the new apartment complex.

If we are assuming correctly, that is massive news. That lot is definitely a major link in the potential fabric of midtown.

I wonder if they will have to comply with the local SPI? If so they will have to do some (badly needed) tweaking at street level.
