New tallest in South End?!

Possibly a 600 ft-er in South End?

Quote:
Scacco said the specific layout for the towers will be dependent on the leasing process and the market demand.

There will be a minimum of one residential tower with 350 units, but it could expand to two residential towers, which Scacco said is likely, with over 650 units. The unnamed project will have a minimum of 800,000 square feet of office, plus outdoor open spaces and public art installations.

Check out the renderings of the development that will forever change the heart of Plaza Midwood, a tight-knit neighborhood that's become a cool counterpoint to its more buttoned-up cousin of Uptown.

Proposed 31 fl residential, South End

Quote:
What’s happening: Nashville developer Southern Land Company, whose catchphrase is “artistry in development,” will spend the next couple years reshaping the lot on the corner of Tremont and South Boulevard. They’re raising the earth to street level, then building a mixed-use high-rise with 300 new luxury apartments on a single acre.

SLC says it plans to break ground in early 2023 and wrap up construction in 2025.

A 31-floor tower on the edge of Dilworth. It’ll be interesting to see how the neighborhood reacts. TOD-NC zoning stretches a few blocks into the neighborhood in some key areas, so this will not be the last of such announcements.

Another tower for South End

Quote:
A Charlotte-based developer detailed plans Tuesday for the tallest tower yet planned in one of the city’s fastest growing areas. A 30-story, 291-unit luxury apartment tower will be built on the southwest corner of Camden Road and West Park Avenue, according to Catalyst Capital Partners. It’s the site of the former iconic walk-up Southern fried chicken joint Price’s Chicken Coop, a nearly 60-year-old restaurant that closed in June.

Construction will begin in third quarter next year, and is expected to be completed in late 2024.

By my count there are 6300+ multifamily units in various stages of development in South End.

True... It seems that Midtown Charlotte (old Cherry neighborhood) was given the name just because they wanted a "midtown" back in the 90's. Now Southend is the true midtown.

Very true, the only reason for the name was a mall that used to be where the new Metropolitan Midtown development is, that was rebranded as "Midtown Square" prior to it's closing. But you're right the development is surrounded by other established neighborhoods so our "Midtown" tends to only be tied to the original site of the mall versus a full neighborhood.

Wow, that is Nashville-level growth and will transform the skyline! Loving 1111 South Tryon too, the base of the center tower reminds me of BMO Tower in Chicago.

Was going to save these for another time, but check out renderings of the new Ascent SouthEnd under construction now at the corner of South Blvd and

Kingston. Today local developer Whitepoint Partners announced plans to build a 400K sq foot office tower next door!

The parking podium on 110 East is regrettable, especially being literally on top of a light rail stop.

Honestly the ongoing surge of development, as well as the increasing rate and scale of projects, could bode well for a deck over 277, immediately surrounding Tryon, at some point in the future.

I don't know if this will ever happen...

But we can look forward to a pedestrian bridge in the near future.
