Population Growth! Ontario is near 14 Million in Population already by now.
(The Latest from Statistics Canada).
http://www5.statcan.gc.ca/cansim/a26?lang=eng&id=510005
Ontario: 13,982,984 (July 1st, 2016).
Doing the Math/ Factoring in Population Growth the GTA is Roughly around 48-49% of the Population of the whole Province of Ontario, & Roughly 42% of the Metro Residents general reside within the City Limits as opposed to Toronto Suburbs. (@ least its been that way since the 2011 Census). So if that remains the same then the Inner City is much closer to 2.9 Million than it is now to 2.8 Million, (Likely 2.87 or 2.88) So when rounding the Murder Stats are probably about 1.8 Per 100,000.
That's not an accurate way to measure murder rates as it's an annual metric and there are still three months left in the year. Unless of course there aren't any more and it stays at 52. Actually, I think Toronto is already at 53 or more.

So unless things slow down considerably, Toronto will likely end up with murder rate just under or just over 3 per 100k.

Those damn hippy libtards! They be making them blacks more violent! Why won't anybody ever just think of the white men of America!?

You always this angry? The internet brings out the worst in people.

OK, I think I made it flat out clear that race has nothing to do with it, don't respond kneejerk style and you might see that.

You need to turn around your statement. Broken homes are more likely to lead to proverty, proverty doesn't create broken homes, history can show you this. I think we can all agree whites and blacks were much poorer 50 years ago, however their crime rate was lower AND two parent households were significantly higher. In fact, let me teach you something, for a small time period barely a generation out if slavery blacks had a HIGHER rate of two parent households than whites.

I won't actually respond to your last statement other than asking; are you in highschool? See, I'm 29 years old, I just got home from a 8 month deployment. I love urban issues. I love politics. I love good debates. You just seem like a kid with zero self-control. Please respond to me like an adult.

SF is at 39 now, after 6 murders in the past 4 days:

Thursday: a shooting on Ellis street in the Tenderloin kills 1 and injures three more. A jogger is also injured in a mysterious shooting on Ellis street a few hours earlier (a stray bullet, maybe?).
Friday: a shooting on Ellis street (again) in the Tenderloin kills a man, and another shooting on Ellsworth street in Bernal heights kills another man.
Saturday: Two men are hit in separate shooting in the Sunnydale and towerside projects in Visitacion Valley, and one of them dies (these neighboring projects have been at war forever, and this could definitely be related to that).
Sunday: Three men were shot at 6th and Bryant in SOMA, and one of them died. Later on, an elderly woman was stabbed to death on California street in Pacific Heights, which is the only incident of these where a suspect was arrested (a crazy homeless person maybe?)

In addition to that, an elderly man succumbed to his injuries last week, after getting badly beaten last month, and a man was also found dead next to SFSU on Sunday. But while the cops consider the latter to be suspicious, they won't say yet if it's a murder.

With 14 homicides year to date, Montreal (pop: 2M, 4.1M for metro) has not seen such a low number since the 1960's

Si peu de meurtres à Montréal, du jamais vu depuis les années 60

Speaking of the suburbs, I believe there have been 4 homicides so far this year (3 in Laval, 1 in Terrebonne).

So the Montreal metro (4.1M people) is at 18 homicides, a 0.43 / 100K rate.

The Quality of life in the US needs some major improvement, its sadly not a Top 10 Country in the Developed World.
Who knows maybe in our lifetimes this will change? (One can only hope).

Another day, and four more shootings in SF, with one victim dead in a SOMA nightclub. That's the second murder at that night club so far this year.

So SF is at 40 now, with 7 murders in 5 days, after a mostly murder-free September.

edit: nevermind, this was one of the shootings from the previous couple days that i already posted about, so the total was still 39 when I made this post

SF is now at 43, after shootings left two men dead in SOMA and Oceanview.

edit: apparently i missed a couple in my count, and the total is 43 now.

^"Police were combing the scene for clues but had not made any arrests by Monday at midday.
The man is the 15th homicide victim of 2016. At this time last year, there were 22 homicide victims."

Montreal is now @ 15.

Man, if it weren't for gun violence, Austin would have a negative murder total of -3 so far.
