With the Regina Downtown Business Improvement District (RDBID), a new interim ‘Skuare’ will be located on the former historic Gordon Block and Burns Hanley sites (2160 12th Avenue).

“The Skuare will be the first of it’s kind in Saskatchewan,” RDBID said in a release. “This 11,000SF site will host a beer garden, additional retail and food/beverage units, space for food trucks, activation and performance space, washrooms, and ancillary storage for Regina Downtown’s Clean Team.”

Judith Veresuk, Executive Director for RDBID said shipping containers will be used for some of the units.

Sounds like an awesome new place for Regina. There's been pretty good success with a couple pop-up style beer gardens in downtown Winnipeg.

Regina introduces new Alternative Response Officers force
The Alternative Response Officers started patrolling downtown Regina this week.

During her media scrum, Davies also hinted at the AROs becoming a larger-scale police force in the near future. “I think we'll see how it goes. Obviously, we know with more presence, we think that there'll be a bigger impact. There are many metrics that we're going to be capturing over the course of this year into early next year, and there'll be lots of lessons that we can learn from that data that we're collecting in terms, of you know, what is the most common call for service they're going to how much are they spending their time.”

Recently, the province announced $3 million in funding going towards adding 32 new front-line officers to the RPS.

As Regina continues to grow, Davies said there needs to be more police officers to respond to community needs.

NDP questions Moe making school change rooms a priority
Nicole Sarauer says NDP will suspend gas tax on day one; blasts Moe’s focus on school change room
Sarauer, running for re-election in Regina Douglas Park, contrasted that priority to Moe’s pledge on Thursday at the Regina Wascana Plains campaign office. Moe told reporters the first order of business of his re-elected government would do was to issue a directive to ban biological males from female change rooms in schools. This was in response to an incident at a school that came to light this week involving biological boys in a change room with biological girls, he said.

The Sask party is out of touch with reality. This is their main focus the agenda where is their platform? They have none. They’re nothing more than maga Republicans

Regina set to host 2025 Baseball Canada men's national championship
Story by Regina Leader-Post •
Over the 54-year history of the tournament, Saskatchewan has hosted the event five times but not in the past 25 years. Next year, the Regina Trappers — who are back-to-back silver medalists at the national event — will host some of Canada’s top teams.

Feds dealing directly with Saskatoon, Regina on homelessness

The federal government said it will bypass the Government of Saskatchewan and go straight to the two biggest cities in the province when it comes to doling out money to deal with people experiencing homelessness and living in encampments.

In a statement posted online on Tuesday, federal Housing Minister Sean Fraser said he sent a letter to each province and territory on September 18, asking them to work with the federal government to “find shelter for those experiencing homelessness or living in encampments.”

He said the letter offered millions of dollars in exchange for working together and matching the federal contributions. Fraser said the money on offer was $250 million, which was announced in the spring
It’s time this provincial government was Gone they were very hateful and spiteful. Just vote in the NDP.

City of Regina taking over Holy Rosary Park to maintain as community green space
The city will purchase the land parcel for $1 plus closing costs and add Holy Rosary to its park inventory.

The park includes green space on the southwest corner of the block but not the playground in front of the former school that faces 14th Avenue.

RCSD struck a deal earlier this year to sell Holy Rosary School to the Archdiocese of Regina for $1.95 million. The property housing the school, division offices, parking lot and adjacent right-of-way is included in the sale.
This is a good situation

Hewton plans to be 'a force to be reckoned with' in mayoral race
If elected to the city's top office, Hewton would see a warm meal program inside city hall and a glass encasement for Scarth Street to escape winter, among other visions.

Author of the article:
Hewton disagrees with the pitch for a new Central Library and describes all of the major projects explored by the city’s catalyst committee as “fallacies.”
This guy is unhinged if he thinks Regina doesn’t deserve a new library and other facilities put the city back 70 years behind Saskatoon these people are so stupid that doesn’t even make any sense

Down 18 points early in the third quarter of their regular-season finale, the University of Regina Rams changed their woebegone narrative against the University of Alberta Golden Bears by scoring three converted touchdowns and two safeties to win 29-22 and earn a berth in the Canada West football playoffs.

But I thought we couldn't get baseball events here because the Red Sox don't have the palatial ball park they want

People behind Regina election attack billboards won't disclose who they are or who's paying the bill

Sandra Masters, who’s targeted on billboards, calls the campaign ‘underhanded’

After the billboards went up last week, Common Sense Regina put out a news release identifying a spokesperson: Peter McCaffrey. He lives in Alberta, where he runs the Alberta Institute, a libertarian think-tank.

In an interview on Oct. 31, McCaffrey told CBC the recently-formed network of "Common Sense" organizations is focused on municipal politics in 14 communities including Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon and Regina. , this should not be allowed and the person who did this should be lawsuit that he doesn’t even live in Regina, not even in Saskatchewan idiot
