Approved by Chicago City Council as expected, Urbanize reports.

I also just realized how much the eastern elevation of the base resembles the Hartford Building (100 S Wacker) also by SOM, which is neat:

Thought the same thing! But 100 S Wacker is Perkins Will, no?

I'm pretty sure 100 S Wacker is a Bruce Graham (SOM) building (Wikipedia can't confirm), unless my memory is starting to fade in my old age.

It's most excellent, regardless of who designed it.

Don't know if it was Bruce Graham, but it was SOM (per the Council on Tall Buildings website).

Yeah, fascinating story on that one. It was built with a pretty tight budget (for the time) but they still clad the outer edges of the concrete frame in pale granite. If you look closely, you can see panel seams on 1300 W Carroll matching those on 100 S Wacker. Hopefully they use a high quality material like cast stone or something...
