Not responding to any of the legitimate points I've made, including your string of bigoted posts exposed in the Richmond thread, including the far higher height allowances in Paris and Berlin, then framing me as a troll, and now framing me as if I self-proclaimed anything, all exhibit just how cowardly you are.

urbanflight's question is completely fine and but you are the one who chose to quote my post from a previous page then call me a troll. Most of us are just trying to build a better city and finding positive solutions to current problems. Why do we have to deal with your dishonest arguments and thinly veiled prejudice? I can't tell what you are trying to achieve here.

How long are you gonna keep up this peekaboo racism? How much of this attitude is embedded in Vancouver and BC politics?

I'd be curious about the other end of the spectrum also. There are so many parties out there I have no idea who's on first any more.

Perhaps because I don't hang on his every word.

But I'm sure everyone's tired of you two trying to derail threads.

No everyone is sick of YOU derailing threads. No one is complaining about me or cov, but there's at least 4 of us complaining about YOU.

Yes US

pronoun used by a speaker to refer to himself or herself and one or more other people as the object of a verb or preposition.

just because you use 'ssiguy' as an alt doesn't mean people who share the same sentiments are the same person.

Derail? Oh like how you derailed the Richmond Updates thread?

Still COPE. Nobody's managed to be that crazy so far.

I do believe whatnext exhibits a frequent flavor of racism in municipal politics that's not at all difficult to spot on social media. Most public figures have the sense to avoid association with these people. The closest thing I can think of is the pro-Vancouver team from 2018. The failed mayoral candidate was then invited to be on the board of directors with the NPA, and was part of the coup that destroyed it. Everything these people touch instantly turns into trash.

Pretty sure MDG will be the only person elected from NPA in 2022. If the ex-NPA city councillors get elected over the NPA candidates then NPA as a party will disintegrate, meaning that MDG's next 4 years will be her last as well.

so another 4 years and then its wide-scale zoning reform

The current Vancouver city council is the most "right wing" since 2008 with 5/11 seats being NPA or NPA adjacent. With the NPA in federal Green Party-level shambles I can't imagine city council becoming any more "right wing" than it currently is. Wai Young with Coalition Vancouver and Fred Harding with Vancouver 1st were both crushed in 2018 for the mayoral election and of the elected councillors, the 3 elected with the least votes were all NPA; love them or hate them Carr, Fry, and Swanson are all very entrenched in city council.

Maybe TEAM for a Liveable Vancouver will blow people's socks off, but the NPA are dead in the water, and every party that is further right than them has been all-but-rejected by voters.

Law-and-order is both more difficult and more expensive to carry out than its supporters tend to perceive. I want to live in a safer environment too, but there are just inevitable constraints on what is achievable within the opioid/mental illness/pandemic crisis context. There is a lot of destitution on Vancouver streets. Jails can't punish these people more than they are already punishing themselves.

I'm thinking 3 seats from green, 1 from cope, 3 from one city, MDG, 3 up for grabs. Mayor is still Stewart I'm willing to put money on it.

As chowhou says, the Centre-Right in Vancouver civic politics is tearing itself apart. How the NPA board managed to let the far-right seize control and alienate all but one of their elected counsellors beggars belief. Now you have John Coupar and Ken Sim vying for the same voter and Mark Marissen trying to poach the developer influence/vote from them. Stewart is a shoe-in unless COPE manages to field a serious, viable candidate.

The Green Party is a useless distraction unless they field a mayoral candidate. How Adrienne Carr manages to top the polls is baffling, other than name recognition.

You can't sign up for mayor AND council, right? So that means Hardwick loses and stays out for the next five years.

Carr, Fry, Wiebe and Boyle are probably safe; DeGenova, maybe. The ex-NPAs (Bligh, Kirby-Yung, Dominato) have actually been more progressive than the Greens, but assuming they lose the brand recognition war - and enough Swanson voters have buyers' remorse - that's four seats up for grabs. Think OneCity will run Brandon Yan again?

I don't know about Brandon but OneCity is running a lot more candidates this time, including Park and School board.

It's always so hard to tell what the average voter knows and why they vote. Not too many people are aware of how certain councilors tend to vote. The Greens in particular don't really live up to their name.

Then of course turnout is so low. It's a crap shoot.

Definitely Stewart's to lose at this point.

As rumours continue to circulate that there might be another mayoral candidate from the left in Vancouver, the labour council endorses Kennedy Stewart for a second run.

OneCity should run cofounder David Chudnovksy for Mayor. He certainly did a good job keeping the BC Liberals sweetheart deal with Holborn over Little Mtn in the news.

I've seen lots of people seeking nominations from OneCity on Twitter as well. Curious what vangreens have planned.

This is so cringe you gotta be a parody of yourself. How can you be this cowardly and pathetic? Onecity isn't even fielding a mayoral candidate in 2022.
